My wife bought me the remote control rally car for christmas and I had so much fun with it that I went to a dealer initially looking at getting a wagon because i have always found the looks and performance thing a good match - anyway after looking at a new WRX there were two new STI7,s there and that was it - I ordered it and then had to go home and tell the missus!!!!

She thought I was joking, the kids thought that i had gone mad and I thought what the hell have I done its twenty seven grand!!!

Anyway, got it and have loved it ever since

The sound of the old lagacy and the then new Impreza hurtling through the dark forests spitting flames at dusk and dawn on the original rally GB. Its just the burble.

Always liked the look of them from the rallies. My mate got one and then took me for a drive. Why didn't anybody tell me they were that fast before??!! Have now remortgaged house and now owned an MY00 PPP for 2 weeks. Drive to work is now not direct at all! Keep driving it everywhere- fantastic. R1 to follow in a couple of weeks

The first Scoob in my family was a 1981 1800cc Leone wagon. My father was in a terrible accident about two years after we had the car, but he walked away with minor injuries. Went out and bought another 1983 1800 Leone wagon with a/c and a tape deck finished in cashmere yellow with hideous brown interior. That car lasted for over 15 years and about 300,000 miles.

I sold it and had two more Leones, a Legacy sedan, then bought a 1.8 Impreza sedan which was sold for my current motor, Impreza RS coupe. Besides my Impreza, we've also got a bugeye 2.5 wagon (USDM also) a 1990 Legacy and a 1986 Subaru Brat/Brumby. Numerous friends have also bought Subarus after rides on backroads, snow, torrential downpours and everything else. Great cars and I'd never drive anything else.

Ah, why did I buy the scoob. Well, lets see. I had a saxo VTS, great little car, but had a partner with kids and needed something bigger, got a mondeo ST24, but had found SN by then and the bug was begining to bite. We'd also decided to get a dog, and weims do not like being in the boot of a saloon, so, needed a new car, and what better than a WRX Wagon, and thus the blackbeast was purchased. Had her for three years and most of the time it was a lot of fun, spent way to much on her, but did enjoy it, miss not having a scooby now and not sure if I'll get one again, but we will see.

Had an E30 BM325 which was getting a bit leggy (EXPENSIVE), was seriously considering getting an E36 M3. Never considered a Scoob, they didn't appeal at that point. The afternoon the M3 was being checked over, a friend who used to be in the trade strongarmed me into going to see his pal at the local Scooby shop...

Drove a (then-new) bugeye. Was OK... then drove a classic MY00 in silver - the guy at the dealer said "just go for a run in it... see you later". Saw the error of my ways pretty quickly, although I had to stay out in it for an hour and a half just too make sure... Quote of the day was "**** F*ck this thing's quick!" (down a motorway sliproad flat in 2nd and 3rd). Big grins, bought the classic the following day, still big grins 2.5 years later and haven't looked back!

ah can't resist...

trusty old surf wagon - astramagic - down to 3 cylinders (0-50 downhill only) so time for change & about time trips to coast matched fun of windsurf / kitesurf once there. don't mean to offend new ager owners, but fancied the classic ever since they started appearing in uk & always pick the impreza on sega rally...

thinking about the 5dr sport & made mistake (?) of test driving my94 5dr wrx / lowered suspension / 17" alloys... had it 6 weeks & can't get enough - found myself turning the tunes off to listen to the engine

anyone tell me why everyone doesn't have one?

I used to have a MK4 Golf TDI 130 and was looking to upgrade I looked at Lotus Elise, BMW 330ci, Civic Type R. I then it came to me that the MY03 facelift was out, went for a test drive and put a deposit down straight away!

Totally standard at the mo soon to be PPP'd

I'm probably going to get abuse for this but here goes anyway!

Back in the old days (yeah, yeah, yeah!!) I think most people, included myself, bought the Turbo because of it's rally pedigree (and the fact that we wanted to be Colin Mcrae!).
Within this thread only three people have mentioned this as a reason; the main being 'cos it's s**t fast for the money!

Me thinks it's time I bought a Volvo!!!

I bought mine purely for the exhaust note. I've been a biker all my adult life but have always had a car as well, purely for the convenience. To me a car was just a mode of transport, for sheer exitement and fun there's the bike. So the time came to trade in my Rover 220 coupe turbo, I had a look around for a few months but nothing seemed to hold my interest. Then one day I heard what sounded like a bike going past the house. That's what started it for me. By the end of the week I had a black WRX import. I found very quickly that this was no ordinary car. So, I had a very hard decision to make each time I go out. Do I take the bike or the car. Now I just let the weather decide for me.
