Dream Weaver, I would disagree with you on that. It would depend on what kind of bend and in what kind of road conditions. A normal "A" road bend would have even the most powerful car have difficulty with a well ridden litre class bike. And we are talking bog standard road bikes and not something highly modded. Then again throw in a bit of dampness on the road and that changes everthing. The above post from "thebothy" though inicates to me that it was a straight bit of road.

Yeah, thebothy is talking about blasting past bikes in a straight line. No chance, mate. My 97 GSX-R750 will do the standinq quarter in the mid/high 10's and is bog standard. Your P1 wouldn't arrive at the end of the strip for another 3 seconds or so. Also, my top speed is around 170mph so again your P1 lags behind.

Twisties, it's a different story and there are too many variables to make a worthwhile argument in favour of either mode of transport, but suffice to say that 4WD and 4 large contact patches will provide more grip than 2 very small contact patches so where corner speed is limited by grip, then a Scooby/Evo etc will probably prevail.

Hey Saxo Boy, I am not a snob, the reason i dont oblige the Saxo/Corsa brigade is simply this....in 99% of the time, what the fu.k is the point????? no contest.

And thats not to be argumentative, its a fact.

Hi cdco, close, from kirkham, along Blackpool road towards B&Q, then I turn off at Whitehill Road, by the prestige car place.

Good point DW, there are a lot of out the box hatches that will seriously trouble a scooby. Then there are modified ones that can spank impreza's! It wasn't that long ago that someone posted on SN in disbelief as a VTS had ripped away from him with ease!!!

P.S I work for a Typhoon Supplier down on the South Coast, and have witnessed some of those 'Nothern' roads.

Add an S2000 Honda to the injury list...... Just a quick squirt down the slip road yesterday, was stunned at how the Scoby pulled him up and spat him out.

Dont condon the 'road racing' brigade but as has been said a little go every now and then cant be bad (In the right conditions etc....i know)

Oh, and the TT might have been the new 150 version. Slower than a Golf GT Diesel !!!!!

my p1 is good for 170 so your gsx r is not going to get away and i never claimed it is faster than big bikes just that they blast off sit at 140 ish and dont think anyone in a car will catch them sorry for offending any bikers .....from ex biker thebothy(exup 1000 2 of)

So its fair to say they back off @ 140. I have put 165 on the clock of my 600 Ninja, but there are only a couple of roads I know of which are quiet and wide enough to do it (and none of them narrow into a single carridgeway at the end).
If it were a blast from one end to another without any self regulation, I dare say the outcome would be a bit different . A new litre class or Hayabusa type bike would be quite a bit quicker than the 600s above 140 as thats where the focus is.
As to a Evo 8 being quicker on a lumpy country lane over a given distance, i'm not surprised as the focus of the evo is 'lumpy country lanes' and the focus of a gixxer 750 is the track where the result with a competent rider would no doubt be the other way.

Since the original TT vs Subaru thread appeared my other half takes great pleasure in embarassing them at any set of traffic lights they decide to pull up at.
It must be slightly more worrying for them by getting beaten by a woman in what appears to be a very uninteresting looking 4 door saloon! (B4 RSK for all the TT owners in the Essex area!!!)

Yeah, but give me the same budget and I build you an R1 that kills 750bhp Skylines (and I still probably have enough left over for a small house somewhere up north)

I don't understand the fixation with the straightline performance of the R1, They are made as an allrounder, not a straightliner, a fairer comparison would be a ZX12 or a Hayabusa for this (and they are straight from the crate machines) There is as much difference between a Busa and an R1 as there is between my ZX6R and an R1 in terms of straightline performance. The new litre class GP bikes are producing 210+ bhp at teh back wheel with a mass of what ? 150KG. What is a skyline producing in standard trim ?

And I find it very hard to believe that "thebothy's" P1 can do 170. As you say it is 307bhp and with the aerodynamics of a barn door etc. Have you had it accurately tested with timing lights? Thought not. Perhaps it's an indicated speed on your woefully inaccurate speedometer then.

Oh as for modified, I know of a chap who is just putting the finishing touches to his 'modified' street legal Suzuki 1200 Bandit also in west London, which is knocking on the door of 500bhp (Nitrous & Turbo'd) and 10-15bhp transmission loss, which would without doubt wave byebye to any modified street legal car you care to mention (without 100bhp 4wd transmission loss). I am very impressed with the power of a modified skyline I helped hold down on a dyno run @ the powerstation, but was surprised how much power the transmission soaked up 560bhp at the crank & 463 bhp at the wheels respectively.

I haven't had my Type R long, but in the short time I have, I've had a number of tear ups with some of the cars mentioned here. VTS, TT (225) PUG XSI, VR6, M3 etc.
The only one that didn't get wasted was the M3, that was pretty even.
The rest got beaten VERY easily.
I don't understand the comparison between some of the cars mentioned and a scoob.

The thing I hate most is when a spotty 17 year old drives up your ar$e wanting a race on a road which is completely inappropriate to go fast on. I'm all for showing lesser cars the way of the scoob, but only when it is safe to do so.

PS. A Corsa! Are you serious!! The only mod I can think of that would make it quick, is taking the back seats out and replacing them with a 5 litre V8!

Well I got blown away on a motorway by an Audi RS6 (modified 580bhp), I was in my Impreza. Met him again two weeks later, this time he tried it on when I was on the bike. Totally diferent outcome.
Yes I would agree that the Impreza can tan the hide off the majority of cars in acceleration, but there will always be somebody faster just remember that next time.

Ever think the Type-R might have something to do with your victories? You have one of the fastest standard scoobys with shorter gearing than a UK (which btw you'd blow away!) Even standard superhatches (i.e cup, ctr) are no match for a type-r scooby.
