Hey, that's my first 'spotted' - just a shame I was on foot on this occasion....

When I returned to my ride (I was parked up in the Amy Road car park) I'm sure I heard a roar of a de-cat'ed Scoob starting up in the distance ...so it seems 4.30-6pm is the best time for Scoobie spotting in the town!

Nice to have met you Jimmy Dell - that's one more 'face to a Scoob!'

Cool

Matt,

You were spotted this morning rumbling down Snatts Hill ! I was on foot heading towards the station so only saw you after you'd passed me. Damn, that exhaust is loud

Andy.

It was good to meet you too, Russ.

Might have been me you heard in the distance as well. Didn't think I could be heard all the way up the road, though.

Andy,

Were you on the right hand side of the road at the bottom of Snatts Hill (sort of outside the bus stop)? Don't normally see many people around at that sort of time so I might take a chance a wave at everyone I see tomorrow just in case it's you!

Might have spotted (heard)Beancounter this afternoon as well. Heard the rumble and saw the back end of P1. Just after 2ish, I think.

Matt

Maddening - still drawing a blank.
Might have to commute from Oxted tomorrow as damn all sighted in 7Oaks (despite Lancaster's best efforts!)

Drive up and down Oxted high street between 7.20am and 7.40am tomorrow and there's a very good chance that Andy or I (or perhaps both of us) will spot you!

I drove down the A25 just after 7 didnt see anybody but there was a P1 on the M25 coming down reigate hill.
Also a silver classic wagon stuck in the clockwise queue just after midday due to some muppet overturning a trailer. i clocked it at just under 10 miles queue back to leatherhead. oh and the WR blue bug eye just arriving at the back. ouch
And then all the shiny new cars outside lancasters 7 oaks. off home now back in a weeks time to view page 20?!!

Hi Kentscooby2

I'm often in 7oaks so I'll keep an eye open for the Stealth wagon...

Im in a MY99 DBM with a scoobysport decat and remap. She's going nicely now after a visit to Pat who took time out on a Sunday to sort the overboost problem that had just developed. She was spooling up to 1.55 bar before the ECU was dragging it back. Now rock stady on 1.25 . Big recommend for anyone into gettting a remap, Great guy.

You dont get service like that from Lancasters........

Hope to see you soon, but i'm not sure if i can make the 28th now......

Soapy,

Is that the Pat @ Scoobysport ? I'm planning to get a TD05 front entry fitted with a remap later this year at Scoobysport. They've done a few MY00's and MY99's and they reckon they get up to 340bhp / 300lbft

Matt,

I was at the top of the hill on the right with a rucksack. I'll try to listen out tomorrow and catch your eye as you approach ! Trouble is I'm usually way late for my train so I don't have much/any time to stop and chat . Roll on 28th when faces will be put to names & cars !

Yes, Pat does Scoobysport's mapping (and Xtreme Scoobies) but I've forgotten his surname...

I had that exact conversation with Pat re the pros and cons of a TD05 because the overboost problem was giving me a taste (about half a second)of 1.5 bar grunt and I'm afraid I liked it......

Matt,

At last our paths cross, it only took a few weeks to get synchronised

Soapy,

So would you recommend Pat's services ? I take it the overboost didn't show up until after your mapping session. I thought the 3 port solonoid was meant to sort overboosting (according to some), what are you boosting to now ?

Andy.

ah HA! Finally spotted another Scoob after 7 day drought.
08.05 going into 7Oaks from A25
Silver 4dr classic with non-standard exhaust.
Unfortunately couldn't get closer in damned traffic to be more specific.

I heard some funny things about scoobysport when I had my decat exhaust fitted round the corner at Hayward and Scott. I don't think that they supply them anymore as they weren't getting paid!
They recommended Xtreme Scooby although it sounds as if they are linked anyway!

I was after a remap as mine appeared to boost to 1.4 but Power Engineering said to leave it. Any other P1/Type R's had remaps?

**News about the Grasshopper meet** - just popped up to the Grasshopper to sound out the management for the intended meet on the 28th and the duty manager (a geezer called Mark as Mr Bickel wasn't around so my week spent practicising Londonised-French was totally wasted...;-)said they have no problems with us meeting there but asked that we use the far end of the carpark so the old dears don't have so far to stagger...He seemed quite keen actually (maybe a closet Scoobie fan?) and said "we normally do quite well out of you lot" and "most other clubs don't even bother asking..."

So, we've done the right thing and kept the management sweet so guess it's just a case of turning up now? I'm taking my missus along for 2 reasons - 1/ I can buy her lunch and keep her sweet re: me leering over any nice P1's that turn up and 2/ she can drive home so I can have a beer as well. Result!

On a separate note, today has been a great day for Scoob spots and waves - a nice P1 parked up in Stn Rd West (loads of McDonalds wrappers in the passenger footwell!), a black wagon turning into council office Rd (got a wave), a black Sti 7 or 8 outside the grasshopper (got a wave) and a silver U.K turbo at Crockham Hill. Must be the sun?

Yes I'd thoroughly recommend Pat, whether you go to him via Scoobysport or Xtreme is your call.

I went to Scoobysport mainly because I fancied the Janspeed rather than H&S (don't ask me why, cos I don't really know, perhaps it's because Janspeed were doing exhausts when I was a kid and they were good then). Xtreme will be a bit cheaper and I've heard such good things about them.......

The remap was done during the very hot weather and the overboost problem only came on when the weather had cooled down a bit. It simply needed a slightly larger restrictor and problem solved. Now steady on 1.25 bar. If you were very uncharitable you might say that it could have been foreseen, but I certainly wouldn't. I love the results of the remap/zorst and I really appreciate Pat taking time out for me on a Sunday whilst he was in the middle of preparations for a dyno test for a 500+hp scooby engine

KS2 sorry but its easier to write than "Dark Blue Mica (or Metallic?). Dark blue anyway - my favourite but a bitch to keep clean

I'm back from Bangor (not a bad drive, the A500 was very nice, super smooth, super quiet tarmac made for super fast scoob and the lovely sound of remapped decat's finest). Glad to hear the Grasshopper are ok with our mini meet.

Going back a page or two I noticed the thing about Oxted Motor Co. and Lancasters. Not sure I understand it but Oxted was a subaru dealer back in the day and I think they even still have scoob trained spanner man there. Still seems odd, but if it means the slow an d preferably painful death of the Lancasters of 7oaks I'm a happy man.

7Oaks Scoobies - still operating from same 'Lancaster' premises - but franshise now operated by Oxted. Not sure what the means in terms of the things that matter to us i.e. service, staff etc
Just know that it makes me more wary, and damned glad I saw comments on this site, investigated further and purchased elsewhere.

Anyone hear me in Oxted at lunch? Was going slow so as not to wake anyone!

Lancasters have always been alright with my P1. All apart from not being able to get me the mat that sits under the spoiler on the boot. Also the inevitable orange glow coming through from the balck grilles on the front spoiler.

Russboy,

What time did you see the black wagon by the council offices ? I was passing on foot at 7:30am and got a wave from Matt ("Jimmy Dell") who drives an L reg black wagon

Soapy,

Thanks for the lowdown on Pat. Sounds like you got a great service, I'll check out Extreme Scoobies' prices when the time comes. I just hope that kind power doesn't break the gearbox - that could be expensive !

Roll on Grasshopper meet...

Wahey - page 8

The Grasshopper sounds fine to me. Just to reiterate what has already been said regarding Pat who did my last remap at Xtreme Scoobies, who both did an excellent job on my "cautious remap" particularly as I'd given them some duff information on the size of the restrictor.

Initially, I was slightly disappointed with the remap as it didn't quite have the grunt I was hoping for but as Pat pointed out it will be heaps better when he's not in the car so anyone who's met him will know what I mean.

Has Pat the Subaru outback or similar? Beard?
If so he was "adjusting" a Honda Civic Type R at Hayward and Scotts!

Yup Pat has a beard and and old leggy with a humungous exhaust...

Interestingly, now the overboost problem has gone, it does not feel as dramatic as it did, almost like it was before the remap, and you think "O s**t that wasn't worth it" and then you look at how quickly you are passing things or leaving them standing, you know it WAS worth it.

Very subjective how "quick" a car feels - I drove a Viper at snetterton and it didn't feel that fast - until you looked at S3s falling behind as if they were stopped and catching up with a 355 on full chat.....

Andy,

Glad it was you this morning as I'd decided I was going to wave like a looney at anyone with a rucksack!

Now I know who you are I'll try my best not to run you over!

Russ,

That was me you saw in the black wagon at lunchtime. I guessed it was you when I saw the Morrettes. Did you notice that as we passed each other the combined sonic boom from our exhausts knocked over that gaggle of old people at the bus stop!

Beancounter

I heard you at lunchtime. Are you sure you were going slowly?

Now as this purports to be a 'spotted' thread (ahem), saw a silver 03 wagon on a private 'S' plate passing by the civic amenity site in Warlingham this morning. Sounded a bit fruitier than standard - PPP'd perhaps?

Matt

Ah Matt, so that was you - your ride looks very sweet indeed and I agree about the combined sonic boom effect...bet that ruined a few pacemakers...;-)

Andy Hobson - LOL - that you actually thought I'd be up at 7.30! (trust me - I NEED my beauty sleep....)

Just thought of another spotted not mentioned yet - a nice chap called Damien owns a silver classic wagon with privacy glass (Q - when did tinted windows suddenly become 'privacy glass' and Videos 'VCRs'?) - parks around 'the other side' behind his offices 2 or 3 times a week (he alternates cars)- again, very noisy...

I've seen that RB5 maybe a dozen times at 7oaks station over the last year or 2, but don't think he's on here - I've tried a WIY before but no response

Nice motor......
