I'm not sure on this but didn't John have over 400 bhp on his old engine and it didn't blow up unlike some at only 300 !!!

My own car was a straighforward 'off the shelf' map with no octane booster.

 

But Alan, I'd prefer a big red one, I like it slow and comfy

You Scooby folk really crack me up. I have no interest in scoobs not what so ever but still keep getting mentioned all the time. The car scoobs I map are the ones that I have always been mapping. Which I also don’t charge any money for !!!

Saying that I have used a BRD development map as a starting point is really quite funny as the map that was in my car was never really that good. Actually it was mapped using a narrow band lambda sensor and only managed to get 265bhp out of it. So it was not a good starting point. That is what got me into mapping in the first place!!!

i was the first person to fit the EVER SO FAMOUS NOW APS intercooler. first UK scoob to break the 300bhp running 1.3bar!!

As soon as it is in I will be commuting in it to get it run in quickly, all being well of course, and as long as I trust it to actually get me to work and back reliably. These engine swaps are not as plain sailing as I naively hoped. What turbo are you going for?

This is a strange thread, can't really get to grips with it. Maybe I came into the Scoobynet world a bit later than others.

Anyway, I do have a few things to say:

I've met both John Banks and Sam Elasser. I believe I've also met andy.f, alan.g, teknopete and they too are friendly and helpful. They are the coolest guys I've ever met. They give you loads of advice on what to do and what not to do with scoobs (and other cars for that matter) and they are very friendly and honest.

It annoys me when these "bitchy" threads appear. WTF is all this about? Surely, the moderators should have stepped in and deleted this thread by now. What purpose is this thread serving?
