Fecking ?!***? bulb!!

The car handles well though with the springs, I'd guess that lift off oversteer is there if you want it now.

Hi,

Just had a quote from my local dealer (Sparshatts).

£195.00 inc vat for the springs. (part# SACC2564)
was told it lowers the front 25mm and the rear 30mm.

Price to fit inc geometry setup: £293.00 inc vat (3-4 hour job)

£488.00

Seems a bit steep to me for fitting. Anyone know of another Hampshire/Dorset company that can fit it ?

The ride is a lot less bouncy, harder and you can feel them stiffening up in corners which means less body roll

Thanks,

Less roll and bounce I like - do they get rid of that 80-90mph patter (on a motorway-like private track, of course). Not sure about the harder ride bit. Are they uncomfortable and do they do anything to reduce understeer?

I think that's all I need to know, thanks very much.

Now all I have to do is manage to lose the cost somewhere (she'll kill me if I suggest that I need to spend just another few hundred quid!).

Another person with MY03 Sti springs fitted today :-))

Wheels now fit in arches properly. Front of car no longer looks like its sitting high. Aesthetics out of the road .... cornering significantly stiffer, esp. noticeable on bumpy twisty stuff. Brilliant fun. Like 'em already and thats with only the run home to report on.

Martin.

so u saying that the geom is extra in cost an time to the price subaru have quoted to me ???
i assumed that the geom setup would be done as part of the springs an bump stop [the bump stop is part of package i assume ?]

Thats why I will drive the 150+ miles to get it done

Cool

Phil
Any chance of you popping along to the FlatFour meet on Thursday 18th at the Dick Turpin so we can have a look and some opinions? I don't like the ride on my STi8 which I think may be accentuated by the wheel/tyre combo I'm using (It feels as though the spring rates and damping are not matched) and the wife hates it (minor detail!)so I'm very interested!
Couple of questions to those who may know - Removal and re-fitting of the Mcpherson struts - why should this alter the geometry if no other adjustable componant is disturbed? although I do of course accept that a geometry check and set is an obvious and sensible part of the conversion.
To compliment the springs, have Prodrive made recommendations as to geometry settings (ala their geometry changes for the "classic" which was favoured - it improved my 99my)
I've changed springs on a number of cars before - mainly Fords, so I'm tempted to undertake the job myself (I have a morbid distrust of all garage mechanics!) then get the geo. set. Who's done it and could you let us know of any techniques/problems?

I will try and pop in on Thursday.

In the instructions for fitting there are revised Geo settings recomended by Prodrive

As for getting the Geo done. It was the best improvement on my MY01 so I had no hessitation getting it done at TSL again

Interested in your comments about the STI 8 ride and your wife! My wife also hates the ride on my car and I am looking to improve matters with a different setup. If you get a ride in a car with the Prodrive springs please post your comments.

Regards,

Hoddy

Phil
Hopefully see you on Thursday, and yes we did chat about wheels/tyres as you have exactly the same combo as me.
Hoddy
I'll report my findings after seeing(hopefully) Phils car on Thursday. Are you running the std. wheel/tyre combo or have you, like me, changed to 18's?

Standard tyre/wheel set up. Unfortunately the roads around where I now live have been imported from Africa!

IS SUBARU STAFFED BY TOTAL D1CKHEADS ??
any one from subaru out there care to comment, after being told three times on three seperate occassions that they will phone me at home with a date for my ppp and handling kit to be fitted, well still no call ???? dont subaru want my money ???????
if that isnt enough i then find out that their quote for prodrive springs being fitted [350 pounds] hasnt included the geometry [ they didnt tell me i found out on here and of mike woods prodrive...thanks mike]
So back to main question ?? isnt the geometry part of prodrive handling pack, or do people get springs fitted and thats the job done, have they quoted me for half a job ????
or are they just d1ckheads ???!?!?! gets right on mine , if a punter rings me an ses can i please spend 2an a half k of my hard earned green with you, well im sure id honour my word and return the call ??!?!?
ok im calm now thanks for reading my rant ?!?!?!
