Nick,
The bump stops supplied with the 03MY STi suspension kit have been designed to overcome certain characteristics present on the 03 car, which were not present on the 02 car.
Out of interest, can you expand on that? (i.e. what characteristics you are talking about?) Do they allow more travel before coming into play, are they softer/harder etc? How do they effect the handling/feel of the car?

Cheers,

Matt (STi 7 + PD Springs already so just curious )

You will all be pleased to know that the 03STi spring kits are now in stock at Subaru UK, ready for your dealer to place your order.

Thumbs up

They much improved the looks and handling on my STi7 Well worth the money IMHO

The bumpstops might have to do with the heavier front end of the STi's and possible bottoming out issues which I experienced with STD Eibach's IMHO

can this be true i asked...they reply by saying 2 hours per wheel plus 4 wheel alignment!

Anyone with a quote or are these the prices the correct?

2 hours per corner is a joke!! I think it took Powerstation about 3 hours to do all of mine, including proper Geometry reset and test drive. Most dealers also won't do nearly as good a job of the Geometry setup as PS (which is a real waste of the improved springs!).

I had mine fitted to my 8 today & paid £376 inc vat for the springs, fitting & geo alignment

Now for some testing as motorway to get home & to much traffic on the A roads to my house. A spirited back road run on the way to work should give them a work out

cheers Simon

I've just been quoted £530 all in!

And local dealer said that price was likely to rise as they are having difficulties with the set up which is adding more time on to the labour charge!!!

That's who quoted me £530 this morning!

They said they did one yesterday (yours?) and had problems withit which meant several calls to Prodrive etc. They said it took longer than expected so that could explain the extra £'s.

Even so an extra £160 and possibly more is a bit much!

A slight deviation on this subject, but what is the situation regarding the spring kit and insurance? I know that the insurers need to be notified of all modifications, but will it make a difference to the premium?? Anyone had experience of this?

Cheers

So because the dealers say it takes longer than expecred you are supposed to pay for their incompetence!!!!!
Springs are springs, they are taking the pi$$ as usual.

Tell them you want them fitting for free as you are helping their training programme by allowing their monkeys to gain experience.

I would think that if the new springe reduce bounce, then they must be softer to allow the dampers to control the spring.
in that case, is there more body roll?

The springs ar progrssive, they allow smaller bumps to be smoothed out but tighten up quickly why there is more body roll.
