How effective are roof vents?
Just read on another thread the aircon weighs 45kg
How about replacing it with a roof vent??
Anyone experienced (a proper) one?

Hi.
I believe subaru added a large heavy weight front crash protection brace thingy . Saw it when mine was in for a little work. Chaps at body shop showed me the pre wrx turbo one and big diff between then. I believe this brace/bar was added ro get the wrx past US crash testing.. Chaps at body shop asked if i wanted it left off no in my case but if you are brave then swap it for the turbo one.. Hard to even lift the thing
Steve
ps chaps that can do this are in waddington lincs

I say get rid of the 2002 wrx cause you will spend to much trying to make it lightier and still wont get it lightier than the earlier classics
Edited to say you probably didnt want to hear that! lol
Just keep the scoob how it is mate - its nice now. If you want to go on trackdays, wouldnt it be better to get a lightier car in general? Doesnt have to be an earlier scoob, get something even lightier!
I reckon you will definitely spend to much money and it aint really going to make much of a difference.
Just my view before anyone bites my head off

Yep, frequently. There are very few things more distracting than an insect or (even worse) a bit of grit striking you in the face at 120mph.
It's also no help whatsoever when the car's at a standstill, so you'd still be sizzling in the traffic jam.
When you also have to contend with the inconvenience of rigging up a drain tube to take the leaks away, it soon turns into a pain in the butt on a road car.
TBH I'd be amazed if the aircon kit weighed anything like 45kg. I'd be surprised if it added up to more than 10...
