I haven't TEC'd a Graphics card before, so thought that I would give it a go. I am not into screamer fans by any means, did that nastiness years ago. Only gonna be running a low 50cfm Papst or something on the rad.

What RAM sinks are you planning on running? To realistically get noticably more out of that RAM you need to VMOD it, but I am sure that you know that . The chips on most of the 9800 Pro's are not far off the limit running stock speed on the cards. I have used both the BGA Tweakmonsters and the Revision 4 Tweakmonsters and prefer the Revision 4's

Cheers,

Nick

I think with only a small fan you wont clear the heat generated by the TEC. I know of people with the same block who need to run the 120mm fan on the waterchill at 12v just to clear the heat from that. In my setup with no tec and just the water block and northbridge block(which realistically generates next to no extra heat) the water temps jumps by nearly 20c.......

I'd stick a low noise Antec stealth 120 and run it flat out rather than run a small fan a high speed. The antecs are nearly silent and pump a fair amount of air.

I dont have any sinks on the ram at the moment but have 8 BGAs sat on my desk ready to go on. Just need to pull the GFX card out and do it.

Just my 2p worth

Steve

I have used a couple of pelts over the years, I reckon personally that the extreme rad should be ok on a fairly low cfm 120mm running at 12V. Remember, it is only a 80 watt pelt .If it doesn't I will alter the design., but I haven't ruled out one of the excellent Dtek heatercores, but space is an issue, hence the blackice rad.

Cheers,

Nick. Tweakmonster heatsinks foo look lovely, don't they?

Sorry, I could have sworn that I was gonna run a 120mm Papst somewhere? I fitted one to my beer fridge, replacing the crap fan that is came with, almost 60cfm and virtually silent. Fridge is Pelt based too and workes perfectly

Sorry Nick

I read 50cfm as 50mm fan it was late....thats my excuse anyway..... The Antec 120mm are about 75 cfm so quite high output but completely silent.

Have a look at a couple of threads which have been rumbling on at the asetek forum....

Steve

M8, I wouldn't bother after forking out what you have done already, I am merely doing it bacause it is one of the last things I am yet to do on a VGA card tbh. You know the TEC isn't gonna make a huge difference anyway over a well set up waterkit alone. The kit is costing me £300! so deffo just for the hell of it tbh, as the results willl come nowhere near justifying that price I have another show on in August that the new rig is going in for, hence me going for something different this time. I was considering the Antec 120mm fans actually for other things too on the case, as I can no longer easily get hold of the old clear blade adjustable Enermax ones, my personal fav.

Neil, sorry for running away with your thread, I hope that you got the answers you were after

Cheers,

Nick
