I just wrote this on another site. I felt like venting some steam...
Looks like it would fit nicely in here.

cut`n`pastetastic

[Terry Wogan] Is it me? [/Terry Wogan]

Work is doing quite well so last week I got a big bonus in my paycheck. Nice, except I ended up paying a load more tax than normal on it. Makes you kind of wonder what you get in return for your tax these days eh?
Well, part of the answer was in todays local paper.
The local family of minks are in it again. You know the type-parents, half a dozen kids - all above the law, large council-house all paid for, selection of broken down old washing machines and cars in the front garden, none of them appear to work for a living yet they can afford latest designer clothes and flashy motors(None of which are taxed I notice, ill bet they arent insured either) Anyway, the mother has received a "substantial 4-figure sum" in an out-of court settlement with the local council. It seems a while ago she stubbed her toe on the pavement and this terrible injury caused her "great pain and distress". Despite council engineers inspecting the pavement and finding nothing wrong, they settled out-of-court to avoid a long legal battle with her no-win-no-fee, ambulance chasing "law firm".

Whatever happened to the days when you tripped on the pavement, picked yourself up and the only thing you thought was "I hope no-one saw me make a tit out of myself", not "hmm, i have tripped over my own feet, i will sue the local council"

What happened to the days you could buy a hot apple pie from Macdonalds, burn your mouth on the contents and think to yourself "ouch thats was stupid" and then get on with your life, not "ouch, hmm, I will sue Macdonalds for selling me a hot apple pie and not warning me it will be hot"

These compensation claims really make by pi$$ boil.

While im in a Victor Meldrew mood....

I was at a track-day on sunday. As we were crossing the paddock some guy in a car rolled down his window and dropped an empty drinks can on the ground. There were 2 big bins within a 2 meter radius, he wouldnt have even had to get out the car to use one, but the thought didnt seem to enter his tiny brain. And people wonder why the country is in such a ****ty mess?
People park up on the road outside my work at lunchtime as it is a quiet spot to eat your lunch. They then fling their rubbish out the window and drive off. Are these folk typical yobs? no, they are well-dressed office workers or sales reps or whatever in their company cars. Nice example to set eh?

I was in a supermarket the other day, one that has those disgusting salad-bar things with loads of bowls of dip and pasta and stuff. You use the provided ladels to pick`n`mix your choice into wee cups to take to the counter. (next time you are near one of these watch for a few minutes how many people stick their fingers into the sauces and taste them, or drop the spoons on the floor and put them back into the bowls. They really are unhygenic)
Anyway, this time there was a kid of about 5 or 6 years old who had climbed onto the counter and was eating hand-fulls of the dips. He was spitting the ones he didnt like back into the bowls. I watched as everyone tutted and grumbled and did nothing about it. Eventually his mum came along and told him he was being naughty. The kid started shouting he wasnt naughty. It all degenerated from there, with his mum trying to explain the error of his ways whilst the kid shouted louder and louder. The mum tried to lift him to the ground but the kid went mental and started kicking her. "please stop that, you are hurting mummy" was her response. The kid thought this was funny.
By now everyone is watching in amusement/amazement.
The kids dad turned up and put the kid on the ground and told him he was being naughty. The kid went radge and started knocking over a nearby display. "please stop that now" was the response from the parents.
The kid, thinking this was all quite funny went completely benny and started knocking more stuff over. Eventually the parents had to bribe the kid to stop by offering to buy him DVD`s if he would be quiet.
I couldnt believe it. If the kid is like that at 6, what will he be like trying to get his own way in a few years time.
20 years ago, I might have tied a stunt like tasting those dips. The punishment would have been a smacked ar$e. If i tried to kick off a tantrum to get my own way another smack to the ar$e would put a rapid stop to that. I would sulk for a few minutes then find something else to do. The important part is I would have learned not to try that again, and I grew up without turning into an emotional cripple or a serial killer because I was smacked.

Remember when you could be disciplined by your friends parents, or in fact any other older, responsible person?
ok, they wouldnt smack you, but a verbal dressing-down from your friends mum was as bad, if not worse, than a smacking from my parents as I would have the embarasement of the verbal, plus the worry they would tell my parents later.
You couldnt do that nowaday though could you for fear of being sued?
Ill bet if anyone else had tried to tell that kid in the supermarket off before the parents got there, they would have been charged with being a child-beating paedo.

This country is going down the pan and no-one seems to care. Instead of usefull contributions to society, the government seems bent on introducing stupid politically correct schemes to keep a minority happy, while the majority of people in the country suffer.
I dont like the way some bureocrat in Westminister or Brussels makes decisions that affect my life. These people are so far removed from reality it is unreal. They are chauffer driven everywhere at taxpayers expense, Ill bet they have never had to sit on a pi$$-stinking platform waiting for a late train to turn up in their lives. They simply dont have to put up with the nitty-gritty day to day grind of everyday life.
Ill bet they have never been the victim of a crime before either. Ill bet if they were to become a victim, the police would pour all available resources into solving the crime, while the rest of us taxpaying normal people have to make do with a half-hearted investigation that consists of writing down a statement and issueing a crime number.

*goes off to look for jobs abroad*

Is the grass always greener on the other side?
Maybe not but at least the weather is nicer.

Unhappy

If I can just add my thoughts from another thread too..

"Thing is, if you dare to care and express it you are instantly branded as 'extreme right wing' or a 'racist' or whatever PC brigade label is handiest.

I wonder who the true facists are in this country sometimes.

Get the message into the kids when they are young its the only way.

I have my own little plan for people throwing litter out of cars. I follow them....And leave them a little something to eat their brain.

David, am emotive, incisive and heart felt rant !

I think all you can do is have a sense of humour nowadays, we are too crowded and people are too greedy, lazy and selfish, hence the mess we are in. Nobody seems to take a sideways glance from the pursuit of money and the aquisition of stuff, look up, left right and down, smell the coffee or whatever it is, chill out and enjoy life if every other **** isnt giving you grief, see life as finite and whatever situation you are in, see it as a bit of a game that will change, whatever you think is wrong with your life there is always somebody worse off, so if you think life is terrible cos you cant afford your PPP or a new DVD writer this month, think about the poor buggers with sick kids, cancer or a no job, but dont pity the daft b4stards that f*ck up their own life with drugs, every (adult) has choices and is responsible for their own actions. Dont blame the asylum seekers, they are on the make, either to make wads at our expense, improve their situation or avoid being killed, its not their fault, blame the ***** that are letting them in like the floodgates have opened.

Cool

funny how this thread is full of people moaning that they will be labelled "racist" or "extremeist" by the "PC Brigade"... and the "PC Brigade" is where?

Maybe you are not actually as persecuted for your views as you seem to think, in a rather self pitying way, that you are.

"PC" Charlie

Edited to say that this might have been better on the *Fantastic Email* thread, but there seems to be a bit of cross posting going on in any case...

Les - all that I am saying is, as someone in some shakespeare play or other once cried "methinks the lady doth protest too much" - meaning that sometimes the people who go on about how they can't express their views for "fear" of being persecuted by the enormous army of politically correct fanatics, seem to be making a hollow complaint. i find it slightly amusing that they feel so sorry for themselves, but at the same time a little sad.

We are a Nation of whingers, We hate people who get off their butts and do something with their life, We hate any good causes, we hate Tony Blair, the guy set the bloody iraqis free!! I cant understand why we as a nation are like this we feel the world owes us something???

We should stand tall be proud to be British and get of our ***** and show the worlsd what we are made off!!!

And I totally agree it costs nothing to be nice and guess what usuall when your nice to people they are nice to you (some exceptions)

I have travelled the world and can honestley say that on my travels in America and especially in Canada people seem to enjoy being nice to each other, so maybe we can learn a few lessons????

Thats my rant over and I truly and sinceley wish everyone reading this thread an Absolutely Brilliant day and hope luck is on your side no matter what you do.

Thanks for letting me commuionicate with you.
