I imagine that most people will want the flexi up-pipe! At 15 dollars more, why not?

Alan - do you want to be added to the list? I understand that you may want to see a "to the door" price before committing.

If it helps, the best shipping price I've found (within UK) is about £20. I don't know about the duties on the first batch or manifolds. Suffice to say there isn't a simple answer at this stage. I'll keep checking into that...

Wow... only $15 for the flexi up-pipe, not bad. I'll be wanting one of those then. Going off the last group buy (only 10 people not the 15+ we're looking at here) it would be about £350-£360 delivered.

Hi guys,

I've managed to get a hold of a set of headers from the first group buy.
Could I please remove my name from this group buy?

All the best guys

Cheers

Can I ask a dumb question here? Being a newby to Scoobies. Short of crawling underneath the car and looking, just how many bits make up the exhaust system? This g/b caters for headers and up-pipe but the wrap thread mentions down pipe. Are these one and the same or two different pipes? How many cats are there originally? I've seen referrence to three. At present I have stainless back box with 'kin great oval tail pipe with what looks like mild steel remainder on MY97 STi Wagon.
Any advice would be garatefully received.

@ alan: I'm intending to order early next week. I reckon that shipping USA->UK will take around a week. I'll then despatch them ASAP from my place, which will be the next day I'm working from home or the next Saturday - which ever is soonest. Of course people can always collect if they choose - but we'll need to arrange the timing of that nearer the time.

@ Houghton: Your car will have...
- manifold
- up-pipe to turbo
- downpipe from turbo
- centre section
- backbox

The number of cats depends on the model of car. MY97 cars have/had two cats; one in the downpipe and one in the centre section. New-age (MY01/02) cars have a third cat in the up-pipe.

It's not as critical to heat-wrap the downpipe as it is to lag the headers. Lagging the downpipe is totally optional; with the headers it's pretty much essential.

Cool

Thanks for the quick response FatMan, now I ought to get a downpipe & centre section to complete the job.
Gerry
PS I'll probably collect my header, any excuse to 'pop out' for a 200 mile round trip, bit like the Bora advert but certainly not boring

OK cheers for that.... im in Milton keynes during the week and Manchester during the weekends (for the next 8 weeks).

Tony.

P.s are they giving us a bigger discount than the first group buy, we have 15 buyers at least rather than ten (maybe we could reach 20 ).

All the quotes so far are for an order of ~10. Max did make reference to some small additional discount if we upped the order size. That hasn't been quantified yet. I'll raise the subject when I order, i.e. when we know the true final order size.

Consider the USD prices here as a 'worst case' scenario. Any additional discounts would be a bonus!

Bought mine on first GB but not fitted yet. I hadn't realised that there was an option of the flexi.

Will the flexi up-pipe prevent the leaks that a lot of people have had when fitting these headers?

Cheers

Dark Force - no, the flexible up-pipe is a new product for them. It's being offered here in an effort to combat those leaks people have been experiencing. Of the people who have expressed a preference (in the 2nd batch), everyone is buying a flexi unit. You could probably order a flexi unit with our g/b if you want one.

Update
The manifolds we'll be buying are a redesigned version. They will be different from "batch-1" in the following ways...
- cast collector (instead of being welded together): smoother internal surfaces
- outlet diameter changes from 2.5" to 2.25", (but the previous manifolds would taper to 2.25" by the end of the uppipe section as well).
- fits both GC and GD chassis cars
- no difference in pricing
... dyno results insignificantly different according to Max and no problems with fitment.

I thought it was worth passing this on. If anyone wants to change their order now that they know the above, please let me know.

Edited to add these pictures: images of a prototype of the new version of the manifold...
