Not sure, WUZ said on the last topic that he could supply everyone wrap at discount so think he is a supplier?

What did WUZ say about the wrap then - rally design or cooltek?

You guys been reading in the drivetrain section to:

Yep... been reading that thread. I've know about the problems with solid up-pipes for a while. May be worth looking at these gaskets dyno engineering .

Agree with Pickle.
I think I will wait it out a little longer to see some opinions before I commit my cash.

Yip seen that thread today also.

Have also known about the problems with solid up pipes for a while, had the same problems getting a Hayward and Scott up pipe sealed. Had to be fitted twice!

I'm still in for the second group buy

Had to get an answer from Cooltek and the result is that I can do 25m of wrap for £28.00 delivered (assuming 10 orders) BUT (and this is the problem!) I am offshore as of today and so cannot guarantee when I can get the other half to get the wrap out to you.

Due to this it might be better to get someone else to organise the group buy! this time anyway.

Sorry lads but my work has to take priority!

Russell

Sorry, I can't take on the g/b of the wrap as well as the manifolds. Personally, I can wait before purchasing the wrap anyway. Those of us in batch-2 won't have our manifolds for a couple of weeks (2 or 3?) anyway.

Update from Max regarding the manifolds...

The headers were recently redesigned. The old version were appropriate for cars up to MY01, and they fitted all turbo derivatives of the Impreza; WRX, Turbo, STI (JDM/IM). The new version of the headers will fit any turbo Impreza, including MY01/02/03.

The headers are also going to be made available without up-pipe if people either aren't interested, or have already changed the OE item on their own car. For interest, the Gruppe-S up-pipe has internal diameter ~2.25". What is the i/d of the original up-pipe on the 'classic' Impreza?

Assuming we have an order of ten units then the manifolds could be available without up-pipe for 375 USD.

A further development is that, since there have been issues with fitting, Gruppe-S are considering selling flexible up-pipes instead of rigid ones. They would be more expensive, but we don't have a price yet. That will be confirmed before we order, naturally.

I would be interested in a set of headers, no uppipe. T-uk has nicked off with mine - we sorted the leaks in the end. What sort of delivery timescale?

I confirm for a set of headers (no uppipe) at $375 (plus taxes, costs etc).

John, Gruppe-s have a batch of around 50 headers coming in around two weeks from now. We'll order at that point. Max did specifically mention that price for headers alone (no up-pipe). Generally, our pricing will depend on the volume of the final order.

Houghton, GavinR96 - I've got you down as 'definite' on the list since we've had confirmation that the headers will fit your cars. Please let me know if you do not intend to order.

Twigster - you're still a 'possible', right? Pending info on resolving the issue of the leaks. Perhaps you might be interested in a flexi up-pipe?

Definate interest with the flexi up pipe option. I thought the up-pipe was larger than most 2 1/2"????

Just found out I need an uppipe as well. Interested in the flexi option also, but if it delays things I'll just have an ordinary Gruppe S one.

Back to the top for the evening crowd to read about ordering without up-pipes or even flexi up-pipes instead.

Sorry, puzzled, what are the uppipe options if any? Most people will need the uppipe because the factory one is far smaller bore than the collector on these headers so you would end up with a horrible lip. At the turbo end, you will also benefit from porting the exhaust housing out to match the uppipe.

When I bought my last one from Gruppe S direct there was an option on uppipe or not. Is this an option in the group buy?

Thanks for all your efforts in organising this

Still up for this and am intersted in flexi up pipe if it helps with sealing issues. Price info would be nice.
Thanx

Sorry if the up-pipe info has been unclear. Here's the situation. Presently Gruppe-S only supply a solid up-pipe. We could order headers either with (~460 USD + taxes & shipping) or without (~375 USD + taxes & shipping) that up-pipe.

Since some people have reported fitting issues, they are also considering selling a flexi pipe. They would also make that available to us with the headers as a package.

At this time I have no information on either a regular price for the flexi pipe, or the price at which it would be available to us in this g/b.

Thanks for the info. Just wait and see what's available when the time comes. I have stainless welding gear so could hopefully fit a flexi into the solid pipe if necessary, if the guage isn't too thin.

Delboy - We could order headers either with (~460 USD + taxes & shipping) or without (~375 USD + taxes & shipping) up-pipe. Final price will depend on the order volume. Yes, it will fit MY96.

See the thread of the first batch to be ordered (here) for indicative shipping prices/taxes.

Currently they provide a solid up-pipe (if you want one at all). However, since some people have encountered fitting issues (blowing gas at joints) they are considering selling flexible up-pipes. That should help alleviate the problem. However, it's not a final decision and we don't have pricing on the flexi option yet.

I am still monitoring mate! I am interested but I am concerned about the leaking issues and am waiting for confirmation there. I also have to get the uprated fuel pump and ecu map etc so I am checking budget concerns as well!!! I will let you know as soon as I possibly can, but don't hold anything up on my account! Don't want to upset any other scooby owners!!

Thumbs up

No problem mate. The suppliers won't have stock for a couple of weeks anyway. I know the 'budget thing' . I'm going to complete this phase of upgrading over a number of months, just buying the components one by one!
