I'm sure everyone has seen the TV programs about learner drivers, and you cringe at how bad some really are(like that Maureen woman), and they take 15+ odd attempts to pass

It makes me think that if regular re-testing was put into place. These people would never be able to drive as if they'd pass the 1st test (eventually), they would certainly fail the re-test. Which is a good thing IMHO.

I know a few poeple who took upto 6-10 attempts to pass, now they can drive they scare the crap out me when I'm a passenger.

But there is evidance that the current system does'nt work, as a good friend of mine passed his test 1st time, and yet he has no common road sense or awareness, and he can't reverse so save his life. Adimittedly he has improved greatly since he had to travel 100miles to and from work everyday. Still managed to side wipe a skip a few months back though

And another friends mum, I refuse to get in car when She's driving!! Honestly it's that bad! She never takes her foot off the clutch, so its always slipping I'm amazed that the car is still on the original clucth
