It might be worth getting in touch with a company who do exhaust heat wrap as you will need this on before you fit them....

To be honest that is actually a good idea. I was just goin to get some from my local rally spares place but a group buy woul be good.

Discount wouldn't be that much though surely? Dunno how much the wrap costs.

Will think about it tomorrow when I am less drunk

Im sure the uppipe is not included with the classic fitment. Only the new age onwards come with one. Worth checking that.

Can't afford it anyway

Question

this group buy still on?

I have had a quote of around 411 for the OBX equal length headers..
so this seems a good price for gruppe...

Anyone used the OBX headers, if so what kind of price were they?

Fire away Money!!

With regards to up-pipe, the kit we would be ordering is part number GRP-MANI-WRX-U;listed on Gruppe S web site as HKS Replica w/ Uppipe - 02+ WRX.

This is the ones that fit the classic, so up-pipe is included.
If I have got that wrong please someone correct me, but I asked a couple of people who have bought them already, and that is what they ordered

25mm (1") x 30 mts (100ft) of Powerwarap (the brown stuff that you wet before applying) RAP002 = £37.50 + VAT & p+p

Might need two of these?

Think the 2 inch stuff would be too thick for the headers?

Can anyone confirm how much wrap is needed for the headers and what's the best width to use please.

Have found some heat wrap from Cooltek

50mm x 5m = £9.00
x 10m = £15.50
x 15m = £22.00
x 20m = £29.00
x 25m = £36.00

Still dunno how much is needed though, anyone?

Steve,

I have a Link ECU so I will be going down the road to see Bob for a re-map if it goes on.

Did you wrap yours in heat shield?

I've just wrapped my std headers and used about 10 metres of wrap if that's any help Didn't do the uppipe though.

I'd get 25m to make sure you have enough.

Hi All

Just to say that i have these header's as well and i wrapped them.

I used 2 full roll's of 25mm wrap and that just got the up-pipe done as well.

I wrapped every pipe individually not wrapped all together.

Cheers Dougie

P.s I got the wrap from Demon Tweek's they also sell the strap's to hold the wrap on with. Once i had wrapped them i think the full bill ended up at £520 all in.

If these come below £400, I might be tempted. At that price it would be rude not to!

I'm hesitant because I'm not sure what benefit I would find. My car (MY00 UK Turbo) has a full decat, Tek-2 and K&N induction kit. The fuel system/injectors, turbo and intercooler are all original. If I were going for a FMIC and new turbo now, then I'd certainly buy the headers - but I'm not. Is there much point adding the headers without making it part of a "big upgrade"?

Fatman, as long as you get a re-map done after fitting these headers, then I would say you will get the benefits of them.
Might be an idea to speak to the person who deos your mapping for more advice?

Windows,

Have you spoken to Powerstation about (real) equal length headers ? They do a kit including up-pipe and may be able to do a deal for a group buy ? Save on import taxes etc. being UK based.

I've tried calling them but the phone was engaged, "Get off the phone Rich !!"

Cheers

Put me down for one of these

I can pick up and bring over from the States - but at £400 its not worth the bother - need to get order in soon as the US rate is going down - its still excellent though

Probably would'nt wrap - but would have coated instead....(and not both!!!!)

Sorry guy's, no joy contacting Gruppe S as of yet, holiday in the US?

Focus here is on price.
Gruppe S headers and up-pipe have a proven record on this board and even at non-group buy price, they are a good buy!!
Anyone got any links to first hand info/experience of the OBX headers or Power Station headers please?

nezz i never wrapped mine but i wish i had as when they went on the where near one on the wiring harnesses and they started to melt it, plus there is 3 oxy sensors in this manifold so you better have something for the holes unless you have the 3rd version of the impreza as thats what these headers are for im happy with them including duty they where £437 delivered to my door
