First actual car was a Mini 850. I was 14. Rotted away faster than I could put filler in and never made the road.
First car to drive was a Mk1 Fiesta Van. Totalled it after 6 weeks.
First performance car was a 2.8i Capri. I still own it.

Snot Green Cavlier 1.6 GL (FWD) toasted the big ends after two weeks so it went to the auction with some Hyvsis stuck in it to quieten it down a bit, followed by a 1.3 MK2 escort 4 door, lowered, weller rims, rally exhaust and a twin choke and K&N, killed the motor doing donuts and burnouts one night in a frosty carpark, so rebuilt it over the winter with a rally cam, home flowed head, dizzy and a twin choke webber from a 1.6 sport MK2 used to push MK2 XR2's to the ton easily

J reg Vauxhall Nova 1.2 merit. Only thing I could afford the insurance for. Heap of crap but never broke down and even though only 4 speed I could change into 4th at about 45mph and it would go all the way to 115mph with a slight tail wind and descent No idea what revs it was doing though but it didnt sound good as the floor panel below the pedals was vibrating pretty bad.

1st car: E reg Peugeot 309 1.6
I still see it around - it must have nearly 200k on the clock now I sold it for enough money to buy a new sofa (I wasn't allowed to use the money for Scoob mods )
2nd car: P reg Scoob turbo. (Still got it )
Now considering at a 205 GTI as a run about/project... (I still have a soft spot for Pugs )

B reg 1.3 Golf C - Got it 'cause I fitted in it! Didn't drive it for 6 months while I learnt to drive.. Think my brother caned it as when I got hold of it no end of stuff went wrong - Money pit on wheels! Nice handling, but gutless..
F reg 2.0i Cavalier Mk3 - My dad's old repmobile.. Cracking car, bit of poke, frantic wheelspin (skinned front tyres within a few weeks!). Predictable but fun handling, never bit me despite much provocation!! Px'ed for...
K reg Citroen ZX Volcane (8v) - First Hot Hatch (well, maybe warm hatch!). Much better ride, fluid handling and torquey engine.. Passive Rear Wheel Steering (Liftoff Oversteer!!!) caught me out twice but 99% of the time great fun and enjoyable to drive. Trying to sell now as I've got
L reg Subaru Legacy Turbo - Bigger, faster, grippier and yet to be modded. Just getting to grips with it, not as "chuckable" as the ZX but I think I'm treating it too nicely at the moment!

First car I actually drove after passing the test was an MG Metro, 1.3 litre. Crashed it into the back of a Rover 216 Doh! Had it repaired and was never the same again. Whole car shook above 80mph!
First car I parted ackers for was a Citroen BX 1.9 diesel. Bought from the town where Last Of The Summer Wine is filmed. That was really good on fuel, even though it had done over 110k. Filled the Metro up 3 times on the way home from there (mate in the BX), and the Citroen's gauge never moved off full!
Ah... those were the days... waiting for the suspension at the back to wake up...

W reg, 1.0 litre VW Polo. Not a bad little car, despite some of the build quality problems. Oh and the trouble I had when some barsteward cloned it.
Two years later, I was pining for something with a little more power, so I bought an Octavia vRS

Passed test two weeks after my 17th Birthday in 1990, 3 weeks hence, my father teaching me a little humility bought me from some family firends a B-reg Lada 1500 Estate, in bright yellow with a brown vinyl roof.
Sure as **** taught me who my friends were, anyone who wasn't refused to be seen in it. In the end I had it for four months, thrashed the nuts off it, Mk2 Escorts were easy meat for it, as it would rev to 8000rpm, admittedly there was a we bit of valve bounce, but it never blew up. Lots of tail-out rally style driving down forest tracks was enjoyed. After that I had to put up with a nearly-new Metro 1.0, I think my parents thought I was going to kill myself in the Lada, which, is probably about right.
It was the only car we ever turned a profit on, bought for £800, sold for £1000.
