Adam: I do not know your spec so I cannot tell you and it is only by accident that I suspect you may want to use a 2.2 block.
What is important is to keep everything as simple and proven as possible and ensure the workmanship is of the highest order.

I have not been on the net for a couple of weeks but somewhere else you are looking for gaskets. Post me the link to that thread and how many do you need?

Its ok harvey, I know how you know, and to my knowledge, your knowing is not a problem for me in the slightest.

With reagrd to gaskets, I don't remember where the thread is, but I am anticipating a few configurations on the dyno next time, and whilst I don't anticipate breaking any of them, having seen how sturdy it looks, I would appreciate if you could get hold of say 4 or 5. So long as its convenient.

Will email you with address for posting, if you want to supply me with bank details, I can tranfer the money directly, or failing that, send you a cheque.

Either way, will email you offline.

Thanks again.

I would estimate that a 2.0 car is going to be at least £3k cheaper to build than a 2.5

Source CD block, machine, supply and fit liners ~ £1000
Uprated gearbox to handle torque ~ £2000

Pat: You ready to tell us why my engine uses a litre of oil (approx) per 1,000mls? and why you regard an increase in C.R. to 8.3:1 is a reliability issue.

Cool

would it be possible for people in the know to post up lists of easily accesable parts to change to get reasonable safe power gains so that us not in the know, know where to start.

There are so many turbos out there which one would you swap the standard TD04 for and once you have done that would you need to get a bigger dump valve or a bigger intercooler etc. change the hoses, what injectors to upgrade to etc.

I have a standard MY00 turbo, all I have done is change the DP and backbox what shold be the next change?

Also if you added a bigger turbo would I notice a difference or would other changes need to be made aswell.

Angry

Why did I ever bother to contribute to this bbs.

The crap that's started flying around because of this is pathetic

All I wanted to do was spread the word that it is possible to get big power in a scoob over here and expand the knowledge of the comunity. But no, it started all the petty little feuds all over again

Harvey, I can't see anywhere in Pat's post where he goes into any real detail about anything in particular just makes a basic comment on things people have tried...if there is more there I guess I'm blind.

I was going to try and come along to Ten of the Best and a few more events. But now? I can't be bothered because I can see that they'll all be just one big bitching session

I may bother to post again, but I doubt it, it's saddening to see the depths that people will go to to put each other down...it actually gets me down to read the blatent digs that are made here obviously some people leave very sad little lives if they feel that they have to treat others like this...

Adam, I'm sorry I brought you into this, Pat, Mark, Moray, David et al I'll see you around the rest of you...well, have a wild guess at what I think of you

The most telling post on this thread is from Not Rev. The first post set it all off with such a superior sounding attitude putting down those of us who want to modify their Scoobs but within the bounds of reality as a road car. This Net is largely for those who want to get a bit more from their cars but with some driveablity and reliability left. We all like to read about the large power and torque outputs which some guys have achieved but we don't like that kind of unnecessary attitude towards us. I have the utmost respect for those who spend their time getting enormous amounts of power from their engines and really like to read how they did it. I spent many years developing my own racing engines which were normally aspirated except for one which was the first turbo engine in national class racing, just! It is quite hard work getting the ultimate out of an engine as I well know, but very satisfying when you start to achieve something worthwhile. Believe it or not, most of us who used to race together were not adverse to sharing information about tuning, because we felt that proper success was demonstrated by driving ability rather than more powerful engines! That was in the days when the word "Sportsmanship" still actually stood for something.

As Not Rev says, how much better it would have sounded if you had just said, " Look what Adam has achieved." Let me congratulate Adam myself right now.

Going by your last post Tim W, it sounds like you are not prepared to accept the views of some of the others. Thats a shame, if you feel you do have to pick up your ball and go home, well that is up to you. I think that would be a pity though.

Les

we could go on about all these cars it's the Same again with the Norris EVO 5 & 7 all these guys deserve major credit, the problem with normal tuning is its not paticularly exciting because everybody has done it !! airfilter straight through ecu bov, and most people are happy but what this scoob illustrates is with a lot of hard work and determination it can be done,

yeah most peope can't aford to do it, but thats not really the point, I like to watch F1 cars I know I can't afford 1 but still like watching them in action.

Mark
