Nigel I thought you were looking at an STi V-Limited? Anyway, nice motor!
Gussy, no bother mate. You can come and see "the operating theatre" now that i've got the epoxy floor done. Walls to paint white on Wednesday, after i've built a couple of cylinder heads back up!

About 1pm Tomorrow then Seriously jealous..
I guess it's like Star Wars......John Bank's BHP = The Force
Use "the Force" wisely at all times..that is give it large all times !!
Never use "the force" on lesser beings (Skyline's, Micra's etc)
Never gloat that you have "the Force"
Keep "the force" within the soul ( and knocklink limits)
I could go on.. have a great day and ask John when he's going to custom map the Bugeye (I would like to volunteer as an experiment)

Bad day in the harding household
mrs drove to york for weekend break without me and oil warning light came on in middle of york she stopped ASAP and oil was on pavement a friendly chap offered to fit a clip on a hose near raditor where it was leaking but car would start ##
national breakdown called and looked and said hose had split and empted engine of oil and now it is seized up they will be towing car back to carlisle on monday
they thought £1500 for a reconditioned engine or scrap the car
Any advice its a rover 418sld touring 1996 my 88 K miles .ive owned it for the last 6 years and has been a great economical workhorse looks the part and i actually like it and was planning to run it into ground
as it stands its worth £50
How much is new or 2nd hand engine ? for a turbo diesel
how much to fit (i have a decent garage £25 per hour and are honest etc i thought maybe 15-20 hours to fit
the car is worth trade £2000 if it was okay
Do i spend £1-1500 on it or is reconditioned /secondhand engines more bother than they are worth ?
You will all say buy a scooby /forester etc and spend your pennys but i actually think its better to put a new engine in etc as i dont want a expensive everyday workhorse car
Advice please

Hi Lordy
Sorry to hear about that... Glad that everyone got home safely (the main thing).
I saw you wrote you were going to run it into the ground.....Well I guess you just did.
Won't £1500 - £2000 get something, else.? Diesel astra estate etc.. I'd rather pay for replacement metal than the labour of fitting a new engine
Only my opinion though

yeah
your making me sweat now i know what you mean re spending money on a new engine except the car is in top knick otherwise
damn nuisence this except £2 k can just buy someone elses problems and i normally buy new /or demo cars
didnt really want to spend £15-20k on a new workhorse as that sort of dosh i can invest in more property for the ever expanding empire
might have to let the mrs get the bus/walk everyware
