Sensors in the ground??? Wouldnt they be easily damaged What form do the sensors take? If they got damaged, would the camera fail to operate?

Where exactly is the Antrim road camera, and the Saintfield road one???

StevieTurbo,
two parallel strips running across the lanes. covered with tar like substance similar to the sensors at traffic lights. don't know exactly how they work but they 'compute' the speed from detecting the wheels as they go over them. there is a complete explanation of how they work on a dedicated site, and no, i can't remember the addy.

Yea, same as traffic lights etc....its an inductive loop. The metal of the car passing over, disturbs the magnetic field or something..
