Chins I think an M3 will happily go over 160 if its 155mph limiter is removed.

We then came to another roundabout and this M3 with its big 19"s was like a lumbering giant, bloody awfull, he would not get out the way at this point, but the discussion between him and his passenger was fantastic to watch.
Like Saxoboy I love my Scoobies - not sure many people have owned as many as myself. They are not the be all and end all though, and comments that started this thread are I'm afraid not in the real world. Not many people on here have driven thousands of miles in both cars - certainly not the journalists. Mr Barker who people quote from EVO mag, could not lose me in my STI and he has been a racing driver in his time. Track times are very open to abuse. All I know is that I have driven on track in my old E46 M3 SMG and Scoobies. For track driving, I prefered the M3. The M3 is fun where the Scooby is IMHO just too clinical.

What I do know is that being carless at present, the M3 is my number one choice. Working in Telecoms means that the Scooby might have to become my new tool though. As a keen driver I for one prefer the M3, but understand people that would choose the Scooby. Scooby owners like myself should not look at a cars image and criticise - gold wheels are so last year darling.

Jonathan

Nobody ever said that impreza's were invincible or that they were the be all and end all or the fastest cars in the world...The thread started by a guy stating the FACT that he owned an m3....
Thats all nothing more nothing less....Then all the player haterz jump on his back spouting this and that which had jack to do with his encounter......

Saxo Boy - If a cup can keep up with a standard scooby, can a normal 172 ?

A 172 can keep up with a cup ! http://forum.cliosport.net/display_topic_threads.asp?ForumID=12&TopicID=39992 &PagePosition=1

Read the first post AGAIN. Where does it say the guy owned an M3 ?

On my way home from a couple of Scooby shops today I was comming of off a roundabout and guess what popped up in front of me. A spanking new M3 with 19" Alloys on it.

I could tell my the look i got in his reaer view mirror he was up for it and away he went. Except he did'nt get away, in fact I was gaining, not by alot but I was gaining.

We then came to another roundabout and this M3 with its big 19"s was like a lumbering giant, bloody awfull, he would not get out the way at this point, but the discussion between him and his passenger was fantastic to watch.

Always wanted to get one over on an M3. Now I have and I am happy my car is performing as it should.
Maybe I need to start learning english again, but the way I read it, the M3 got a slagging in the title thread.

Jonathan

on the twisities a scoob can keep up or even beat the M3, but in a straight line the M3 will pull away for sure, especially after 60 or 70mph....

Does any one remember what time the cars got round the Top gear track, i think they have driven both the M3 and STI8 PPP round it.????

Saxoboy, are you high?
A pulsar would never keep up with a scooby turbo sti.
they are 4.6 0-60 and the pulsar is 5.4

I wont even bother mentioning the others (all over 7 secs)

Gis a shot!

I love the look of the noble. Especially since it has the performance to match.

I'm stuck with me slightly modded STI 5 Type R with sounds stuck on radio 2. Looking for M3s to challange. LOL! (Its true.By me)

Jonto I could get the vid to work but someone on that thread stated:

From what I can see in that vid the Cup makes up about a car length in each gear, I'd call that a fair bit faster.
Er, thats a massive difference!!!! In fact, even if it was half a car length in every gear that is more of a difference between a 172 and cup than between my car (275bhp MY99) and a cup Says it all!

I'm not high at all.....but I do have a challenge for you...find me a standard pulsar I spent about 13k on my car when I bough it and its fast and IMHO very nice looking and to drive, etc for the money but I won't deny that the same money would have bought a faster pulsar! The reason I didn't is cause I think scoobys look the mutts nutts and pulsars are totally pants. Fast, but pants

Thumbs up

I have gone faster round a track than a new M3, P1, Tamora, C4S, and STi7/8 all with just a nice set of tyres and a lowly 250bhp.

You can spend your cash on dump valves/big spoilers and I'll still kick your *** unless you get good rubber.....read it and weap nobbers!

.....yes I have had beer too!

Not really relevant, but who cares, its Friday innit!

I should stress again that I'm not having a go at anyone The poster has an STI 8 PPP........I'd cut off my right nut for one of those (provided I had enough afterwards to get rid of the god awful scoop )

All I'm saying is that I believe an equally driver PPP 8 V an E46 M3 would see the BM pull away after it gets its power down - certainly not the other way.

Cupraman

Out of all the mags that have tested both the M3 and the STI8 PPP they have all come out with different times, i like the way you pick the fastest times for the STI8 and the slowest times for the M3. w4nker!

To set the record straight i belive the fastest times for the E46 M3 are
0-60 in 4.7
0-100 in 11.5
faster than the STI8 PPP

The difference on the road will be down to the driver, if the scooby got on the power like a second earlier than the M3 it would catch up on a straight. Maybe the M3 driver didn't fancy smashing up his car after nailing coming out of a 2nd gear roundabout whereas your girlie (i cant do no wrong) 4wd car will just point and squirt, no skill in driving that..

Totally destroy an M3 the other day on the Motorway, was in the Focus as well. A lowly 1.6, came up behind him and straight past. Left him like his was standing still. When we came out of the raod works he did come past me but flew past him earlier so point proved me thinks .

Just glad my lane was moving in the jam LOL

Another SIAL thread I feel

We were in third, and I waited for him to put the power down first as I did not want to look like a **** and have go with someone who did not want to have a go, if you know what I mean.
