Well, I got woken up at 07.00 Sat morning by the postie - with a delivery from Prodrive/Subaru - A video!! all about the P1, a Subaru calender - the same one that was in the Nov issue of Evo (I think it was Nov) and the brochure for the P1.

Much as i was pleased to recieve the Prodrive pack thro the post on Saturday as well(as I suppose all prospective P1 owners who haven't been given a delivery date have), I can't help thinking this is a ploy to placate us. I am another who can't get any sense out of my dealer (Day's of Chelmsford). Has anyone really got one or are Subaru/Prodrive posting to the BBS in disguise? If I am wrong, how much truth is in these recall rumours (paintwork, wheels etc.)?
Phil.

My wife says that I am one in a million
Mind you she didn't say what the million were, she still doesn't understand why I wanted the P1 in the first place

I saw one in Aberdeen this afternoon. The wheels were the right colour.
I think the 'problem' with stonechips on the lip spoiler is due to it being so close to the road. I have a lip spoiler on my WRX and it gets chipped much more than the rest of the front of the car.

Sorry to bring you back down to earth, but further discussions with my dealer indicated that some people may not get their cars until SEPTEMBER!!!!
I don't have enough **** or !!!! to print the dealers general comments about Subaru UK and Prodrive on the way things have been handled and the lack of info etc.
Assuming we all get our cars in due course maybe some form of gesture from Subaru in the form of track time or hospitality at the Network Q would be in order?
I was forced to go to my Mitsubishi dealer last week but have since come back to my senses (another thread I know!)
Interesting to see someone trying to sell their P1 in the Sunday Times for 'a small premium'. Any inpatient takers?

How brave are you? Tech looks to of weathered the storm and be bouncing back but this is v v v v v v v risky! especially if you need all the money to fund a forthcoming purchase. In this situation I am sorry to say that I would be a bit dull and put it on deposit for 1 or 2 months (I am an eternal optimist and can't bear the thought that it will be September!)
If it is already in property then I would leave it there.
With finance rates at around 8.5% I am going to borrow the money and so it's not something I've had to think about!
Market up strongly this morning, led by tech.

So it seems to be September then does it
Whilst I am sure everyone has heard differing reasons for the delay from their supplying dealer is there anybody on the BBS who can extract a definitive answer from Prodrive as to what EXACTLY is happenning
Perhaps the only alternative open to us waiting for the P1 is to continually call Prodrive and ask the same question - "where the bloody hell is my car?" Surely they will have to put out some form of reply, if only to keep the faith of those waiting
Shall we all start calling them from next week if they cannot give a clear indication of what is happenning
Only a thought
Yex
PS: perhaps as some form of compensation they could let us have a few hours use of their new testing facility when they eventually get round to delivering the cars

Easy, Yex, down boy
I can well imagine that the later cars might be delivered around September - 1000 cars is a *lot* and if they start in May then 200 per month doesn't sound completely unreasonable (slow, but not out the game) - to be delivering 50 cars per week, roughly, UNTIL september...
As I understand it (per discussion with my dealer) the next batch should be getting delivered in May, theoretically it's two per dealer, so depending where you are on your dealer's list (and how honest your dealer is ) you might reasonably expect to get your car "in order".
In other words: From what we've seen and heard so far, I think it's safe to say that they started to deliver cars at the end of March (as promised, just - read into this what you will) but quickly discovered a paint fault - which has held up deliveries. Dealers are now suggesting late April/early May as the eta of the first "fixed" cars. presumably with no other problems, we'll see cars being delivered throughout the summer.
But as purchasers of UK Turbos have discovered over the years (when 9 month queues with no due dates were not uncommon), the IM system for tracking vehicle movements around their system doesn't provide dealers with a great deal of information. That used to be the subject of many of the posts to the SIDC and IWOC mailing lists "in the old days"
(waves walking stick at whippersnappers, strokes beard, sits down, exhausted )
Of course, these days we discuss advanced topics like insurance and delivery dates
I like the idea about the testing facility though!!

Sorry all, I was having a particularly s**t day at work - as you can see from my previous post I get a bit 'het up' when people don't communicate properly
Will wait as patiently as possible, a couple of weeks at least

I've heard no reasons whatsoever from my dealership. Either Subaru are telling them nowt or they dont want to give out bad news.
Either way it is a pain in the proverbial. Wouldn't it be nice for Subaru/Prodrive to post some explaination on the BBS?
p.s. how do these bloody icons work and what does IMHO and all the other abbreviations mean.(call me stupid!)

well...back to the matter in hand......P1's!!!...I received an e-mail thisafternoon from my dealer, enclosing a copy of a letter that has been sent out to all dealers from big boss man at Subaru. It basically said that there was a problem with one of the parts (I guess the spoiler and stone chipping) and that this matter is nearly resolved. All cars on track for delivery once this is received.
It was basicaly a real creeping letter - obviously released due to the number of dishartened would be owners - and I think it was aimed at the dealers to then copy it to the prospective perchasers....(geezzz....too many long words for this time of night!!!
I will try and sort a copy of the above letter...or a transcript tomorrow....those that want to see mail me at tom@schofieldinsurance.co.uk and I will sort a transcript to you tomorrow (daytime)...or just wait till tomorrow eve.
Or I guess speak to the dealers - they should all be aware of it by now.
I still think that Subaru UK should be doing more for us tho....we are buying their new flagship scoob....and what do they do???...they send us a copies letter fron "God of Scoob UK" with a calender that was released with Nov99 EVO mag??? Whats all that about then???
Nough said....getting all wound up....night all

I'm with Phil on this one. The very least that the dealer network/IM can do is tell the truth as to what is happening. After that there is surely an opportunity for them to "make a gesture" (yes, I'm sure I know what hand it will involve as well )and placate the people who are now having to wait far too long for their car - or in most cases a first drive of a demo car.
As I have mentioned in other threads I, along with most other people, get very annoyed when communication is not forthcoming, particularly when they still want £31,495 of our money
Yex - getting off my soapbox now but willing to help with any "class action" people want to use against IM for some/any form of compensation.

Agree with Rum spoke to my dealer he said he had a copy of the letter towhich Rum referred and he said the faulty part in question was the rear spoiler and " Prodrive had actually run out of them....all the work [20 hours]work had been done..and first dlievry was resuming within 2 weeks...' that was 5 days ago. He claimed all were ready to be dispatched apart from the spolier work as he had been down to Prodrive and actually sen them minus rear spoilers...
whatever it really is a shambles....
