Has anyone take delivery of their new P1???

If not, has anyone heard where they have all got too.....or have the Scots got them all???

No BBS.....no P1....ol'Rum was starting to get the DT's!! *LOL*

ex-webby 10 April 2000 10:38 PM

I have been told I will get mine in the last week of April ...

Rum 10 April 2000 10:53 PM

Good...hopefully we'll get them sooner...where abouts are you getting it from?

Mike Shaw 11 April 2000 12:27 AM

Which is fine as long as it stops in time. When ARE we going to get a Subaru that comes off the production line with decent brakes?!

Cheers,
Mike

JohnS 11 April 2000 09:04 AM

I think the 2nd batch of P1s have been delayed due to paint matching problems with ther front spoiler.

Quite a few of the first batch did make their way to Scotland, and indeed I spent some time in one on Saturday http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

Only a few of the dealers in Scotland have received some cars though, and most (like the rest of the country), are still waiting.

On the road, the P1 does have an extra "presence" when it is following you http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

leaskc 11 April 2000 02:24 PM

24 P1s have been delivered to date.

Mine wasn't one of them http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif

subtract the one that JohnS was in, the production car (ie not the mule) that Prodrive have, and the press car - there are 21 out there that we haven't heard about online... http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

Mill Lane Engineering in Basingstoke were allocated three P1's! They were the second garage in the UK to receive P1's and they have had two of the three so far. Both are now sold, and the third is due in May.

I think it is still unallocated, but if you have a word with Andrew King on (01256) 780790. Tell him I sent you!!!

Andy

Andy,

Mill Lane told me that they had five - and when I spoke to them three were sold - one was being bought by the dealer and one was available.

I tried to buy it as a company car but DIAL had apoplexy and came up with a figure that was too much per month!

Ah, well.

R

IanF 11 April 2000 09:56 PM

Mill Lane still have one available.

Have been speaking with them over the last couple of weeks about it.

Not sure yet, probably will go for an Evo, but would like more feedback from P1 owners (when they get their cars of course).

My friend in Aldershot picked his P1 up last friday night and can't wait to run it in, but says its a massive improvement on his MY97. Can't wait to go and see him to compare with my MY00.

Does anyone at Subaru UK or Prodrive watch this board? http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

Would you like to comment? http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/redface.gif

Is the wait due to revised brake fitting? http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/rolleyes.gif

New boy to the list awaiting P1 delivery http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif although I've been reading you all for some time! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

Excellent board, glad you're back.

Has anyone received the info pack with available options etc? My dealer does not seem to have very much info on what is going on including delivery dates. Is this common? http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif

Any help greatfully received.

Anybody interested in a Boxster currently up for sale due to lack of seats?

leaskc 12 April 2000 11:15 AM

JohnH#2: welcome http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

no info pack, no delivery date, very little information. Been told to enquire this week as to delivery dates, so fingers crossed...

Yex 12 April 2000 01:46 PM

I'm probably the only person on this BBS who is happy with the delay in P1 deliveries. I'm on the second list of 500 and am currently wating for my builder to turn up and start my double garage (kennel http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif ), let alone have the bloody thing finished to keep the car in.

I'll be very interested in the WR option pack when it eventually gets out into the world....it may persuade me to break my self induced cut off point for any loss on the trade-in of my current car, and therefore cancel my P1 order.

JohnH#2 12 April 2000 02:12 PM

Have just spoken with the dealer. Apparently the 22 that were registered last week are being recalled as the paint on the front spoiler is falling off! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/eek.gif All other deliveries are on hold. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif Dealers can expect TWO cars in May the rest in June at the earliest! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif

What a shambles! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/mad.gif

Info packs are now going out this week (like they did last week!)

Don't we deserve better?

Isn't it amazing....there is another thread going at the moment showing the results of the latest JD Power survey: 1st, 2nd and 8th...now who is going to blame who for the P1 farce http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/confused.gif

Run a car company? It would appear that Prodrive/SUK couldn't run a bath http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/rolleyes.gif

I have one of the first batch, I spoke to my dealer today and he didn`t mention anything about a recall.

As for the car, it is great, enough said

Rum 12 April 2000 10:51 PM

Just a little jealous Kevin ??!!!....tho musn't grumble....mine will arrive soon....or will it ??!! *LOL*

Kevin Tree 13 April 2000 10:32 PM

I do consider myself fortunate, it still continues to impress as I play a little harder on the roads that I travelled every day in my MY97, it is better all round.

Bahhhh Humbugggg!!!

RichB 14 April 2000 12:45 AM

One drove by my office yesterday. Only caught a glimpse of it but I know who's it is from the number plate, he used to have a WRsport silver UK, company/lease car I think. grrrrrr.
I will go and have a look and try and blag a ride I think...
If the owner is on here, expect a visitor soon.

bigmalc 14 April 2000 02:26 PM

According to Robinsons of Rochdale, all P1's were delivered with the wrong wheels - quite where Subaru UK/Prodrive fit into that equation I'm not sure - not a very good start though?
Never mind - keep the punters waiting, push up residuals, etc, etc......

Watch this space

leaskc 14 April 2000 03:24 PM

bigmalc,

Not sure, but this sounds like a reference to the fact that the P1s arrived in this country shod with standard 16" gold-painted STi wheels (ie same as those on MY98 & MY99 UK cars)

not sure that they were "wrong" (although I suppose they could have been), just "surplus to requirements" (and therefore sold off, see previous threads)

Chip 14 April 2000 06:19 PM

I was at Prodrive last week and was told by Mark Hall that P1,s are going out late due to stone chipping problems on the front spoiler. He stated a new front lip on the spoiler was being designed and would be fitted when ready. Cars are not actually prepared at Prodrive so he did not know how many or when the cars were going out.
Cheers
Chip.

Neil Scott 14 April 2000 08:26 PM

I have had my P1 for just over two weeks and it has now done 1100 miles. Today I had a good look at the front bumper/spoiler and the number of stone chips (especially on the lower lip spoiler) is quite worrying. My 98 car was not as badly stone chipped as this after 33k. Something wrong here I think.

Neil.

Kevin Tree 14 April 2000 10:12 PM

Neil,

I have done 350 miles so far, no stone chips but there is a blemish in the paintwork under the laquer on the rear of the roof.

Are you happy otherwise?

Kevin

Rum 14 April 2000 11:27 PM

ummmmm.....maybe Ol'Rum will cancel order for new P1..........he he...no chance....a few stone chips have never caused anyone too many probs *S*...

Sorry all.....one too many Tetleys tonight....

night night..
*G* *hic*

Chip 15 April 2000 11:16 AM

Neil
From what this chap at prodrive was saying they will be recalling the cars already issued to fit the modified spoiler.
Cheers
Chip.

Neil Scott 15 April 2000 09:02 PM

Kevin,

Yeah, I'm mighty happy with the car apart from the usual Subaru rattle hunt but I've almost got them licked! I drove it yesterday in earnest for the first time and it is superb, at least in comparison to my '98 UK car. The only downside was that I managed to get the brakes to fade (surprise, surprise).

Rum,

I've not got a problem with stone chips but they do seem to be appearing rather early in the life of the car and they also seem to be on areas which are painted in this country eg the Hella driving lamp surrounds and the lower lip spoiler. The rest of the bumper is fine. I can only assume that the parts peculiar to the P1 were sprayed to a lesser standard than parts from the production line. BTW I sometimes piss a lot when I drink to much tea too http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

Chip,

Interesting - if you've any more info I'd appreciate it. My problem could be added to by the fact that my dealer, Andersons Perth, have just gone into receivership and can't do much of anything at the moment. Will wait and see.

Neil.
