It doesn't bother me, (in fact I got into trouble this week for posting photos of women in lingerie), but I do feel there needs to be some moderation in the amount of such material on Scoobynet. If it got to the stage where many, or most, of the threads contained images of half naked women, I think I'd be likely to object. There are other places for it, (like most of the rest of the Internet, for example), and it should not be allowed to become a main focus of Scoobynet.
As others have already pointed out, the problem will be where to draw the line. I don't think Scoobynet is the place for pornography, but, if posting photos of scantily clad women becomes totally acceptable and commonplace, the next step will be that a few people continually push the boundaries. Consider what happened with the women appreciation threads. They all started off reasonably enough, but pretty soon they'd moved on to transparent clothing, then bare breasts and eventually they were locked or vaped as a result of the content.

With 8000 hits its nearly as popular as my NBO threads and there is no scantly dressed women on it !!! YET
hopefully its a hot day for the NBO and we might get some good pictures of scoobys and babes a perfect combination
For f**** sake if you dont want to look at them find another thread !!!!
im not interested in bikers but i wouldnt try to stop peoples enjoyment in the threads by banning them .
Get a life and dont spoil what is a good laugh for the majority .

Bikes are machines though and as such don't have feelings. Talking about how a bike looks/handles is not likely to upset anyone, (except maybe the owner, if it's generally agreed it's a heap). Commenting on actual people and the way they look is a bit of a different matter.
As I've said on a different thread on the same subject, it's often the comments about the photos and the general attitudes that cause offence, rather than the photos themselves.
To be honest the opinion of a lot of the blokes that you should have a 'right' to post those sorts of photos here says a lot. Your 'right' is no more important than that of the people who don't want to see that sort of material here, (a group which does not include me, incidentally). This is primarily a motoring board and regardless of whether the majority of motoring magazines contain barely dressed women, I can see no automatic reason that anyone should be allowed to post photos of half naked women here, especially not if it upsets other users, for whatever reason.
The comments about the opinion of the majority don't quite ring true either. I'd say that there are plenty of other commonly held opinions on SN which cannot be freely voiced. For example, even if 99% of SN members were for the idea of all black people being kicked out of the UK, the complaints of the 1%, were that thought ever to be posted, would, rightly, be upheld.
And before anyone attacks me, or calls me a jealous moose, I suggest you read my post above and realise that I don't mind photos of half naked women on SN, and that I posted some myself this week.

I would retort that a name like 'spoon' says it all. And I'd ask if 'spanner' was already taken, but I won't because it's too hot to be arguing.
So have another

I would LMFAO if they locked Aaron's annual Bike show threads, as they contain pretty well exactly the same stuff that the car cleaning thread contained. I hope they do it to you Aaron, as I would love to see the stink you would kick up m8

lol @ TK - I think youhave the right idea No-one objects as log as it doesn't become the main focus (which I don't think it will) so it's not a problem
Where's the people that complained then?

Jen, I just hope the blokes are as open-minded about accepting threads full of half naked blokes and drooling women...
I've no idea who complained. To be honest, I can see why the women appreciation threads were locked. They'd gone on too long and had gone too far. I complained about one of them in the end and I know I wasn't the only one. I can't see the problem with the car cleaning thread though, unless some of the posts were removed before it was locked.
A few of us were warned about posting photos of women in lingerie in one of the threads in Muppets on Friday too, which I can't really understand.

I dont see a problem with the pics of the women. They are just harmless fun. The post title for god sake says women in good thread or semi naked women on cars. If you dont like it or find it offensive then dont look at it! Simple.
I can understand if the pics get a little graphic as some people have problems with this but most of the pics (99%) are in good taste and dont show everything if you know what i mean.
Turbo kitty, you can easily start a thread showing blokes! lmao. I bet you wont be saying that should be closed. lmao
Seriously though, dont see the problem with the thread. Its just good fun. if people dont like it, dont open the thread! as long as it clearly says what the topic is about, then you dont have to look do you.
This is mainly a car site but its not wholly to post about cars. If you look in some of the forums, people sell their house parts, ask where is the best place to get a loan etc.

M0NEY, I did a thread full of blokes ages ago. You should have heard the whining from the SN blokes though!!
"They're all freaks"
"They're not real men"
"What on Earth do you want to look at them for?"
"They all look gay"
"They've been airbrushed"
"They're wearing make-up to look better. It's not realistic"
"Anyone can look that good with a decent photographer and proper lighting"
etc etc...
So, nice to know the blokes didn't feel insecure or jealous then...

One other side of the arguement...
Whilst I was in hospital I was very occasionally allowed internet access. They had various parental controls in place such as Net Nanny etc. The sites had to be pre-approved so it took me some time to eventually get Scoobynet authorised.
Some morons had posted gay porno pics of George Bush and Osama Bin Laden which caused the site to be banned.
My view is that mild stuff that you might find in a newspaper is OK but some of the stuff in FHM might be a bit borderline. Complete **** is a definate non starter as there are many other sites better for that (or so I'm told )
I accept that Scoobynet is not speciffically designed for kids but at the end of the day it is primarily a car site?
I agree that the majority view of the members should prevail.

My following comments stem from the people who have the 'this is a car forum' attitude.
I have been an active member on this site for a long time...
I don't own a Subaru anymore but still visit this site most days.
One of the main reasons for SN being so successful is due to the amount of hits it receives. Now clearly I am a perfect example of someone who now doesn't visit this site to read about Subarus.
The main forums I browse are Non Scooby Related, Other Marques, For Sale and Tyres... and occasionally SN General.
If you was to turn this site into just a car forum and not keep it how it is, the sites hits would go down and Scoobynet and its users would suffer...
The site would loose credability and just one example of what this brings is that Subaru owners have the ability to buy products at reduced rates due to it size....
I don't feel there is anything wrong in the thread in question... It was clearly titled to give people a choice....
And what does everybody want in life.... a choice.... a chance to be an individual and follow the path they want too, within reason.
**** shouldn't be allowed... this is NOT the place for that, but some light hearted fun to the people who choose to look at it can only be healthy. To laugh is too feel good.
IMO - the rule should be that all posts like the 'car wash' one should be titled with a caution.
If you open another forum dedicated to that then you run the risk of potentialy bringing the wrong kind of people to the site.
The posts should be moderated if they get out of hand.... and if complaints are made then they need to be assessed individually by our dedicated voluntary ! moderators. (who do a good job)
You will never make everyone happy.... but you can give them the choice...
my vote goes to choice.
Hopefully this thread adds value.

Reading some of the personal abuse earlier in this thread it's clear there are some damn fine accomplished mass debaters here who need no pictorial stimuli to get them going!
I've no problem looking at whatever is posted but TBH it's a pleasant change to get a tiny corner of the web which doesn't need a bit of "t1t and ar$e" to keep my attention for a while!
I get more laughs from the typical blokey comments about the pics than I get from the pics themselves!

Hi TurboKitty,
my main point was to have a caution notice in the title.... thus giving the user a choice.... and from there on in they are moderated.
I would think as this subject has hit some vibes, in future (if it didn't already happen this time) the moderators discuss it as a team in their own section and then make a desicion.
