OK time for a status update i think. Hope everyone is well and looking forward to it as much as I am. Katrina has reserved accomodation for all of us that wanted it for the night before(all apart from chris).

Two weeks before we go I have to ring them to confirm everyones names for insurance purposes. I propose we go up the night before in convoy, which we'll arrange closer to the time.

There are still deposit(s) outstanding. As previously stated let me know if you can't pay, or dont want to come so that your place can be re-allocated in good time.

cheers

More info:

is anyone bringing any spectators? The rally school charge £10 per spectator to cover lunch and refreshments and need to know numbers in advance. If there are any spectators let us know ASAP, especially if they will require B&B.

The guest houses have recommended that we have breakfast at around 8am on the rally day as we will want to be leaving at around 8:45 to go to the rally school. (around 15 mins drive)

Stuff & Info I need from you guys soon as:

--Final Payment for school (guest house will be up to you to pay on check-out)

--Name & Details to confirm for Rally School Insurance

--Whether you want to convoy from Plymouth or not

--What time you want to meet (either for convoy or up there) The guest houses want to kow our arrival time.

--Whether you want to eat up there on 7th. If we are going to arrive at a sensible time one of the guest houses has offered to do us all a 3 course meal (choice of menu) for £15 a head or we can all go to a local pub that does food. This is equally applicable after the school on the 8th if you want to get together
before journey back.

I will second that! Mind you its been a while for me as well.
Well the car is back on the road, after 7 weeks in re-build, needed new crank, one new conrod, new bearings and a new timing belt for good measure, cost, well I had change from 2 grand, just! Anyway its a company car so the VAT comes back! Have been carefully running it in, but it has developed a tapping noise, which is probably a loose shim on one of the tappets, that means it will have to be partially stripped to fix it! So it will be off the road AGAIN, and for how long, I do not know. All of this is not good for my Karma! Can you believe that the mechanic had two impreza`s lined up before mine for engine rebuilds, and when I picked mine up he had three more ready for rebuilds! The one he is doing now had the same problem as mine, failed for no good reason, but he needs a new crank, two new rods and the valves kissed the piston smashing the head on it, serious money, it makes me feel like I got away lightly. I reckon it is a testiment to the build quality of jap impreza`s!!!
I cheered myself up, bought a cheap car from saltash auctions to keep me moving, 1500 quid L reg black 5 series, 3 litre V8 (sweet as a nut) 12 months MOT, 4x electric windows, grey leather, air-con, computer, switchable auto, cruise and fsh upto 150,000 miles. It has 166,000 miles on it now and runs soooo smoothly! Not a squeak or rattle from the interior and the V8 just purrs! Those Germans, they might not have a sense of humour, but boy can they build cars!
So I will join your convoy, but it will be in a black inter-continental cruiser!
Springbok are you back in town? If so, am on days this week, can meet to drink more of your coffee if you like!! Can`t afford my own any longer, garage bills and all that, ps bread prices in SE cornwall will be going up!

Rally School is soon upon us!

I've looked at the route from plymouth to Knighton and its a 3.5-4 hour journey. We originally suggested meeting in plymouth (Tuesday 7th, marsh mills) and convoying up there. If we do this we'd better sort out a time that will be sensible.

How do you guys want to play it? If we're gonna convoy, me and the missus will be ready for 4:30 giving us an ETA of around 8:30 in the guest house. There is also the issue of food. are we going to eat on way, or try and eat there? (bearing in mind we are talking middle of wales)

I'll get Katrina to give you all the relevant info regarding the guest houses in plenty of time.

I intend to pay the balance to the rally school on my credit card when i confirm the names of the drivers in 2 weeks time. Could you please all contact me to confirm your booking and your name/age/time driving (they need this in advance for insurance purposes). I would also like your balances (£100) paid to me in the next 2 weeks if possible. If this is a problem please contact me directly.

I'll give you all the relavent info for the day 1 week before we go.

Looking forward to it!

Dale

Trouble is, now I am looking for bends in the road where I can do a bit of left foot braking in the van and get the tail sliding out, think of the mess, all of those cream doughnuts falling off the trays!
PS when i go to sleep I dream of MkII Escorts, is that normal?

LOL I did this today too - went round a bend and thought I could left foot brake, get the tail out, and slide round here.

Then I saw the wall on the outside of the bend (the wall of Devonport Dockyard to be precise). Then I thought perhaps not.
