The answer to your question is that I invalidated my Subaru Warranty with the TeK2, I was told that it would do so and the gamble is all mine....but

I got the car from the Netherlands (via Well Lane Turbo)so saved a few grand (this is an MY02 when they were selling new at silly maindealer prices). so spent tthe savings on a few mods...Moretes, lexus rear lights, Eibachs, Part de-cat,gold wheels, colour coding, STi scoop, lip spoiler etc....but left the engine intact.

Then after about 5000 miles thought about the engine as it had losened up a bit and asked the advice of my local main Subarau dealer.

Now;.. Ian Armstrong From Stan Palmers here in carlisle seems to know a SHED LOAD about WRX's STi's etc and we agreed on the TeK2. He told me that it would invalidate the warranty but I went for it anyway as it is a very conservative re-map and I'm sure that the engine can cope (cross fingers here). TEk2 same price as Tek3 from John Banks or Bob Rawle but see below

Here's the gamble...Ditch the warranty for a cheap "PPP" with similar performace gains. Main dealer clearly tells me that warranty gone but I still have safety net of sale of goods act.

If engine goes bang I can take it to another Subaru Dealer and deny Tek2, This is a downright lie and not really playing the game, besides If caught I get sacked from job (yes really).

as the saying goes "yer pays yer money and takes yer choices"

Tek2 is completely transparent to the subaru "Select monitor" AFAIK, I've got a SECS on order (who hasn't..) which again does not "see" the Tek2 remap.

Take it to a dealer who does not know who you are and as far as they are aware it's the standard ECU.

What a difficult question...I knew that something had happend following Tek2 but not sure if test driver would without rolling road. TeK2 does not give loads of extra "get up and go" at the top end but seems to smooth out the power below 4500. it comes in earlier and gets rid of the "kick".

Tek3 would, I'm sure give a completely diffrent car, particularly if mapped to be "non-conservative"

midlife scooby how are you going to claim with the sale of goods act surely this only applys if the object in question is not changed from the original spec as to when it was designed. i can't see suk paying for any claim regardless of sale of goods as you have altered the goods if it was standard then no probs.

also the handbrake thing is because they can't be bothered to do it i always adjust them up it's a 5 min job.
also the selling dealer of the car pays the first service labour element then claims it from i.m i think! you'd be surprised at how much the labour rate goes up when another dealer has to pay another!
the garage usally charges for an hours labour say £50, filter screenwash and the gasket drain come to about £14 thats £64 then oil say £25 thats £89 then environmental charges which vary would bring it to about £100 say (not sure what they charge) so you pay £100 the mechanic gets about £8 something an hour and the garage has had to buy it all first from i.m so they don't really make that much profit at all.

Scooby boy

The claim would not be against Subaru UK as the Tek2 invalidates the warranty..it would have to be against the supplying dealer . ie the TeK2 not being "fit for purpose"..ie it damaged my car.

Grasping at straws really
