Cool

Tin,

Apologies for getting your name wrong! Anyone else up for a Scoobynet M5 meet! LOL

The car is indeed a beastie. I have a picture very similar to the one above. Could look at it for ages. The only thing that I'd like is a clear top to the plenum chamber, as the eight intake pipes under that cover are a work of art. I know you can get hold of a full carbon cover, but see-through would be v.cool

Similarly, a Kelleners or Eismann exhaust might be on the cards, but they are both the wrong side of £1k to be an immediate buy!

Matt, no worries dude, yeah scoobynet M5 meet sounds cool , i'll be up for that

M5 cover? something like beastpower looks good, but would prefer a see-through one too!

on the exhausts, there's quite a few to choose from, bit of research is needed, b4 shelling out £1k+ also, we've got 2 cats to worry about, come MOT time hehe

Cool

Dom,

There are one or two floating about on the web, so I'll try and get them onto a suitable thread.

M5 meet seems like a must, so might have to organise it! It'll probably be Midlands(ish) to accomodate everyone. There are way too many meets in Surrey/Kent etc for most people to get too.

Cheers

Hi,

Had my M5 2 weeks and 4 days now...FANTASTIC!

It is a Nov 2000, facelift in carbon black with imola red. Comms pack, voice control, climate comfort screen, tinted rear windows, etc.

I've had a few drug dealer/pimp comments made but only after I'd already cracked the jokes first (as I expected it) so it was a bit poor to recycle my own joke but hey it still happened....

Anyway, clutch slipping. I do not think it is my driving as I've only had one auto in my life so I've got years and years of manual experience and I've never suffered from clutch slip before. I've had an M3 and not once did the clutch slip on that. The car has got 36k miles on it and I am just asking because I am expecting a row to break out over who is paying for a replacement. BM have said it is only a warranty job if there is a manufacturing defect. I really don't care, I just want it sorting, but to happen so soon after buying it I think the dealer should replace it FOC.

I am no mechanic so is it the case that once a clutch has gone it will just slip permanently because if so, that isn't the case. Sometimes it is fine but then this morning I was doing 45 in 4th, I dropped to 3rd to overtake 2 cars and the bloody thing slipped so badly it felt like I was back in my 1.9 Tdi Audi!

Any views/ideas?

Cheers,

Chinny,

Try posting on the M5 forum on BM5W.com (http://www.bm5w.co.uk/). I got some useful info from there. Also this site is good (http://www.bmwtips.com/). Actually I got my car repaired recently (non warranty issue - low flying pheasant rammed my fan housing...) and took it to L&C in Banstead as one of the contributors on the BM5W.com site (RS2100) works there - he is pretty fair and I would recommend him to anyone - try posting a query for him or sending him a PM on that forum. The dealership was good too. From what I've heard it's worth checking the position with a number of dealers before acting.

Good luck

Cheers

Chinny,

One more thing - I also post on the BM5W.com forum under tha same call sign "Tang", so if you can't find RS2100 just search against my posts and you'll find him. Failing that reply to this and I'll get in touch and hook you up.

Cheers
