Talking to a guy at work the other day who is buying a scoob from his mate (UK MY01) anyway he is the type of guy that dismisses anything that doesn’t own or hasn’t owned as crap, nice guy as you have probably already guessed. We got talking about cars and after he had told me that his bugeye would run rings round my old 172 and that my punto sporting was a girls car a Westie just happened to drive past and yes you guessed it he spouted up “ohh they are crap my scoob would thrash one of those”. We’ll this guy pretends to know it all when it comes to cars but my Nan probably knows more, I informed him that it was a megabusa that had drove pasted and his scoob would not have a chance after he had finished laughing he tried to explain that this Westfield was only a 1.3 and his old Saxo VTR would beat it and his new Scooby would leave it for dust. I tried for at least an hour to explain the principle of power to weight ratio and that because this Westfield was a 1.3 didn’t mean it was slow and that it would do 0-60 in 3.5 secs but this info didn’t seem to make it way into his tiny brain. In the end I decided to give up because he just didn’t believe me, so its 1-0 to idiots-vs-fact im afraid.

Even I am not stupid enough to have a go at a megabusa and my car would wipe the floor with a MY01 anyday of the week. A lot of people cant see past the end of their bonnet.

It depends what you are use to, if you jump from a 1.0 clio into an MY01 WRX then it going to seem like you have a warp drive fitted and nothing can possibly be quicker. If you are use to a quick car then the performance gain wont be that great.

After 2.5 years with the RA I know there is much faster stuff out there but I dont want to pay the price for anything anything quicker or less practical. Cant really see myself in a westfield due to not being able to get in or out .

Talking about much faster stuff, went for a blast to Tamworth yesterday t see them nice boys at SPA, and came across (not literally) and net 911 turbo, hehehe the roads were quite quiet and im sure h was going fr it, the clues were the dropping of the back of the car as we left the roundabout, the little puff of smoke and then he was gone LOL

Seriously though the westy sorta kept with him till around 60 odd, and then it was if he just time warped away lol making car length after car length on me. Simply awesome to see

CatFlap,

Your car has had a little tickle with 911 turbo in the past, and did quite well.

just the back light on the oil temp gauge, they sorted it out for me, this did fix some problems with the clocks when i first bought it, its seen good so far touch wood.

I know i was flat out chasing the porka form a slow speed (off a round about) about 20 odd, and yeh was not too bad until 60 but then he was pulling away quite cleanly.

I have no idea how fast th eporka was, could be tuned, or a fast model I don’t know, but if you say the car did well against one then it suggests this porka was a quick one as I have a bigger engine in the car now, along with a higher diff to give faster acceleration, so the car is much quicker to a ton than it was when i fist bought it, and the pork still made impressive ground.

The old engine put out 98BHP at wheels, the new one gives a more healthy 108BHP, it feels smoother and pulls harder than it did.
I have also dropped over 25KG from the car which theoretically should help acceleration

Ive looked around on the net so see if i can recognise it and i think it was a gt2 (cant be sure)

Not bad considering my car cost the same as his air fresher all good fun

We did have a blast against a zxr600 on the way home and the car made a few cars lengths on it, pulling away quite easily up to silly speeds (I wont incriminate myself) that was also fun.

Looking at that VX one on 27th April Hope weather is OK

If purchased, will be a nice 120 mile jaunt back to where we are holidaying in the Lake District, then another 200+ miles back home. Will have the missus in the 'support car' in case anything goes iffy

Will have a very numb **** by the time I get home

Can't be doing with all this bike engined malarky, I need to crooooooze Should give you lads time to get the pop in at the bar just in time for me to pull up in the car park

vx is a good choice so im told plenty to power out of one and good to tune shuld be faster that ours at higher speeds (dude to more power, vs the weight thing)

good luck and rememerb EVERY roundabout is ment to be tail out time, if it was not, then why would god invent westys?

HAHAHA ive seen a supercharger for sale heheheh do they go whooo tshhhhh whooooo tshhhhh

If not itll have to be the turbo then

LOL jonto what`s a goober game??? When are you getting yours dude?

Just spoke to my mate whos getting one of the R1`s from him, apparently they are imported engines, from Belgium, they are less powerful, only 121bhp

Anyway the amount of voluptuous tail out on that roundabout just now dodge no one will dare race you, as you’ll knock them off the road and before you say it was not bad, we almost did 360 around the thing with your **** hanging, no not hanging…. more like reversing around

LOL dode tell em how much power you got at the wheels

Ryan - goober games are when your turn up to a rolling road session, with a supposingly standard car and then pull nearly 260bhp and then declare you have had a different ecu etc!

Thats what goober did at john nobles ! I was expecting to get about the same as goober, instead he was nearly 40 bhp, should have seen my face !

I hear mike isn't goin for a blade engine anymore and i have got to wait 10 weeks for mine, but i haven't sold my car yet, so thats all right !

I will probably see you on saturday at llandow, i am goin down on friday night, are you ?

cheers

have any of you guys bought say second hand 1800SE and fitted a bike engine? if so is this a cheaper option than say a second hand megabird/blade/busa. who did you get to fit them and what did it cost?

sorry for all the questions just very curious
