Parts… we have lots of stuff now and quite cheap… we get stuff direct and there is much that is available here next day or even off the shelf from certain garages that now specialise in the Soarer…

Tight Twisty Roads. That is not its’ strongest hand, the cars is as big as a Vanquish, x-country runs are on a par with a well driven hot hatch… but with w 30-70 of just over 3seconds one half decent straight and the hatch is history…

I think on any fairly twisty ‘B’ road a Scoob or EVO would leave me… but any straight of a few hundred yards and my HIDs’ will be burning the back of your necks, on any ‘A’ road that pair are history… ‘M’ roads even more of a trouncing… if I lived in the back of beyond, West Wales, Cornwall, some parts of the Scottish Highlands I would own an EVO or if on a budget a Scoob, but I live in Berkshire, there is little call for a Rally car around here…

I don't want to convince anyone to get one... like all cars it is a matter of choice... I only point out an alternative to the 'Usual Suspects'... I genuinely believe the Soarer selects you... not you it... ask any owner, at least 50% of them went to see a Supra/Skyline/Merc/BMW etc and the car winked at them... I was off to buy a Maserati GT when I found mine, the Maser was a last minute alternative after being let down on an XK8... Saved 30k and never looked back... faster than any XK8 quieter and more reliable and better handling... it selected me... I had no choice!!!

We have a Worldwide network... there are 5 main affilated clubs...

The Original LSOC, whose forum closed this week (webmaster too busy) but the Club still exists.
The TIF, its replacement as a forum.
The ALSC, the Oz club formewd as a result of the Oz members of the LSOC wanting their own 'place'
There is an American SC club... hmm... least said...
And there is Planet Soarer... a fanaticists site for the Active '32' driver...

As in it isn't hyped to the gunnels...

I'll leave the big fat biffers to BMW owners... they like the Brunhildes of this World... suits the cars perfectly... hahaha

The answer for me is no... for others it is yes... self-evident really... if I wanted a different car... I'd buy it...

That wasn't actually the question, do you rate any car other than the Soarer?

Sorry, I just don't believe the answer really is no

Wink

Its an Auto.

Only info I could find had the 2.5tt auto at nearly 1600kg kerb weight with driver and fluids.
Thats about the same as a Ford Galaxy or Renault Espace. No wonder it needs the trick suspension to get round the bends.

The point being is that there is no such thing as a drivers car that is an Auto. There maybe some that tend towards being "sporty" but notheing comes close to a manual (or SMG style) box.

I am not saying you said it was a drivers car Mycroft. You might just like to cruse or drag, but that not driving to me. Each to their own i know.

I rate all cars... some score higher than others... perhaps asking the correct question might help!

So far you can't even frame a question correctly and yet you'll be wanting answers right?

Mycroft, using your own criteria, could you give some examples of cars which you rate highly.

As you have no 'overall' criteria then perhaps just list the cars, and your reasons for rating them so highly.

Apologies if this isn't clear enough.

Edited to insert words to help it make sense.

My own criteria can be defined as being that the car is...

Fun to drive. max. poss 10points.
Well engineered. max. poss 10points.
Reliable. max. poss 10points.
Discrete. max. poss 10points.
Fast. max. poss 10points.
Rare. max. poss 10points.
Has no Rice. max. poss 10points.
Easily and cheaply changeable from road car to Track weapon. max. poss 10points.
Not known as a boy-racers car. max. poss 10points.
Is a 2 door Coupe. max. poss 10points.
Is an Auto. max. poss 10points.
Is RWD. max. poss 10points.
Remains Fatigue free. max. poss 10points.

When diving this car you must not be purposefully tailgated or stopped from merging easily into traffic. (It must not hated by the Public at large, although 'sporty cars' from jumped-up jack-*** forums are excluded from this... hahahaha) max. poss 20points.

These are my criteria... yours may be different... and in this only one car scores max points in all the categories... and I own 2 of them.

Post your car and I'll give you my rating for it!

My cars get 150 points.

Edit, neither of them would do very well I'm afraid

It's 36points - that extra point could be crucial

I'm still interested in the one's that are near the top of your list. It's an interesting criteria, none obviously spring to mind....

It's not a perfect scale... I would suggest that a scoob my actually rate as a 40 pointer...

The 22B much higher... probably 75 points...

There's a better way to ask this

If the Soarer just didn't exist, what would be on your drive?
