Thanks for the reply Miles.

Your idea on the Diary thread is workable to an extent but is similar to what most Scots have been doing anyway since *sale* threads started to be moved about.

Three suggestions to improve things are:

Sub sections in the "For Sale" forum, each one being related to area. "Southern", "Northern" etc.

This allows prospective buyers to go direct to their own area to see what's for sale locally and will also allow the sale item to remain in view for a longer period of time than at present, which, let's be honest, doesn't even last a day!!

Downside to this is going to be members selling items would be inclined to post items for sale in every sub section and have a moan at having to do so. However, if there is a general "For Sale" section (which we have already), then they could post there to allow everyone to have an opportunity to buy said item(s).

Second alternative is to post for example "Scotland-wheels for sale" or "Southern-wheels for sale", this would then allow members to run a search inputting the area to see what is for sale in their own area.

The third alternative is to have icons similar to those available when you reply to threads ( the smiley, winky ones) which have reference to each area (Scotland, Southern etc). Using these in the topic headings then allows members looking for parts to give a cursory glance down each topic heading in the for sale section until they find the area they want. Takes a bit longer than search though..

My preference is the sub section but willing to hear the pros and cons of all three suggestions to get a result that all members can find useful.

Alan

Question

Bringing this back to the top since no reply from Simon has happened yet and i now see specifically this thread has been moved by the moderators to another forum, whereas i *think* that the member would prefer to locate one locally and quickly.

This is not a dig by any means, i only aked a question which to date has not been answered.

I also realise the above thread does not relate in its entirety regards selling issues in Scotland forum, but does have a relevance with regard to what may be Scottish issues.

Thanks

Alan

Just trawled through the 'for sale' forum and found two items that I was very interested in on the third and fourth page (all dated today).

If they had been linked in here it would have given the locals a chance to buy and save on p&p.

Similar again to the 'was it you'. drb5, kennyc and opelcorsa have posted in there recently with no response.

Put a thread in this section linking it to one in the relevant section, that way you get best of both, and IMHO a better response without clogging up the traffic in Scottish.

Comments appreciated.

I'm trying to sell my car on the for sale forum and within minutes it gets bumped to 2nd page!

I'm sure some people just spend all their timing 'bttt'ing their ads!

My tuppence worth,
Ian
