I am picking up my MY95 WRX Sti import soon and was wondering the same question. I was going to put an ITG panel filter on, is this the best idea and is it worth taking that resonator out?

John,
But would you recommend me trying the K and N induction kit on my car, mods haven't really changed since you done the remap I just fancy some more noise now I not using the car for work

[numpty mode one]
Lets see if I am starting to get this straight. Summary so far: -
---
There is a resonator tucked away in the wing somewhere.
The resonator is connected to the airbox.
The airbox has a panel filter.
---
I could buy a replacement performance panel filter that goes in the existing airbox.
I could buy a replacement performance panel filter that goes in the existing airbox, and bypass the resonator.
If attempting the latter you may as well have an induction kit.
---
An induction kit cuts out the resonator. It replaces the exisitng airbox and panel filter with for example a Blitz cone filter only.
Going for an induction kit is not really worth it with my only other mods being a decat exhaust - unless it is simply to add a satisfying induction sound.
If you want slightly better breathing and are not fussed about the induction sound then you may as well just get a performance replacemnt panel filter eg ITG for the current air box.

Am I getting there?
Cheers for all the posters patience! Obviously this is of interest to people as there have been a fair number of views compared to posts

Sly fox, if you have a MY99/00 consider removing the HKS induction. I say this because in my experience of mapping with them on (limited because I try to get people to change them first) the differences in airflow readings are at least as marked as the APS CAK. You probably gain power and torque because things are much leaner and the ignition is more advanced. It also very likely is causing detonation at least some of the time IMHO because the MAF readings are artificially lowered even on a working MAF sensor.
Resonator removal has cause pitted compressor wheels and at least one complete failure from water ingress, even with a non-paper panel filter. In addition, some have observed dangerous MAF misreads when going through puddles.
IMHO the only safe induction kit I've come across for a MY99/00 without a remap and that is MAF friendly is the K&N 57i.
