I actually wrote an adventure game across our school BBC micro network, text only mind you, but I had 13 machines networking together quite happily.

RANDOMIZE USR 0 in fact
Actually, it was <any keyword> USR 0.

So you could do:
GOTO USR 0
PRINT USR 0
etc.

I think RANDOMIZE was used because essentially it was a keyword that didn't change anything (apart from setting the initialization vector on the pseudorandom number table according to the number of T-states since the computer was powered up )

Cool

ISTR POKE 16384,17 used to make a ZX Spectrum do the 'striped border' thing as if it was loading.

Ahh, the joys of the copper. Though admittedly that's decidedly modern for this thread. Someone beat me to the 53280/53281 of the 64

I have heard of these things called lives, but I can't see me needing one no matter how much my wife tells me to get one

Copper, chiark? Been spending too much time in bars?

I was in a 'group' once - with the cheesy name Digital Holography, did all the graphics for a 'demo' on the Amiga. We only ever did one though, and I've not even got a copy of it.

Good fun though - we must've spent 2/3rds of the entire development time just putting together the text in the scrollbar.

On the old Commodore Pet M/C’s if you keyed in Wait6502,100 the screen would fill with !MIROSOFT!

And remember Always PEEK before you POKE!

Thumbs up

Nobody would have split it onto two lines like that. Far more likely would be to use PRINT CHR$141;"hello"'CHR$141;"hello"

Also ? was used on the BBC instead of PEEK and POKE - for example, ?&FE4E=&7F followed by pressing BREAK to cause a power-on reset. It was the old Commodore machines that used it to mean PRINT.

Yeah you're right, it wasn't '?', it was "P." I was thinking about 'L.' for list.
