I'm going down Skeg this weekend so will

A Try a route out from Derby
B Look at the parking options

I'm not proposing any routes for people further afield, but I will post something on here if people would like to join us on route (By us I mean people meeting at the Goose/Notts). Recent experience of convoys tells me that we will need points along the route to keep cars together as best as possible.

My latest AA map has various Little Chef/BurgerKing/Travelodges indicated on it - could possibly use a couple of those to regroup/meet others?

I think the best route over from Nottingham is on the A52 which takes you through Grantham, Boston and then directly into Skegness. On this route there are a number of little chef's, sevices, plus McDonalds in Grantham, and in Boston both with car parks.

Coming into Skegness on this road, you will come past a small retail estate (Focus DIY, Halfords, Currys) on the outskirts of Skegness, which has a large carpark which is free. Could be a possible meeting place before everyone heads into town?

I think the route we will take will be upto Grantham on the A52, the on the Sleaford Road (A607& A153), onto Sleaford by pass, joinA153 to Tattershall, turn right oneto the A155 to West Keel, left onto the A16 to Partney then rightonto the A158 to Skeg

This is a far better route than going A52 all the way, less speed cameras (Only two sets post Grantham) with a good variety of straights, fast bends, tight bends, up hill, down hills.

After all you drive a Scoob and want a challenging drive + there is an Optimax station at the mid way point !!!

Question

OR Take the A46 to Newark, then round the Newark by-pass, then onto the A17 to Sleaford and follow Steve's directions. That's the route I've taken in the past.

Could use the garage at the Newark A17 junction as a meeting point for us Lincs lot and also at the A15/A17 for Sleaford (There's a Mc Donalds there!!!)

Or the ones that get left at the back like you and have to give it some to catch up. You know what I mean

just got back fropm Skeggy and will be e -mailing you all with the meeting places (Derby Notts to begin with)

Had a check round yesterday and the only sensible option is the car park on the front (Clock Tower), unless someone from skeg knows better. The other carparks were either too small or too far out.

I think it will be an early start to make sure we get somewhere together

There is a good car park also on the front just be for the first arcades between them and a putting area. Very big car park (grass) plenty of room for all the cars but will have to be there very early especially as its bank holiday.....no later than 9 I would think.

Jimmy,

The week after is B Hol hence why I picked the 18th. Saw the carpark you were on about, but I doubt we could all get there for 9. I was thinking realistically that everyone should aim for 10:30 as one or two have a far way to come. Plus by the time I've met the derby lot, driven to notts, picked up others on the way it would mean setting off really early.

I was hoping one of the Skeggy lot could suggest something sensible even if we don't get on the front

I will be e-mailing everyone later (saturday) with the details.

Finishing point is the car park behind the clock tower island on sea front. I'm only going to do directions for Derby/Notts lot as I'm sure that the lincoln lot will be able to find there way

However we could all meet at the McDonalds on the Sleaford By-pass island ?

Question

Can you let me know if you haven't got the attachment with the e-mail. It seems that some have and some haven't.

Why do I always seem to have problems with e-mail with people on Scoobynet. Surely everyone uses Word ?

Actually - now I have studied the map - I will latch on at Revesby on the A155.

Presume you Lincoln Scoobs will have joined at A17, so I will no doubt see you on route.

If anyone wants to join me from Louth/Horncastle etc with a view to driving and arriving at Revesby for b4 10.00am let me know.

Otherwise watch out for the lonely silver turbo out of the corner of your eye as you all flash past The Red Lion.

Cheers
