I admit I was lucky. The road ahead of me in the outside lane was clear, with a few cars in the middle lane which I was overtaking. They must have been doing over 70mph for me to overtake. I think because of the flow of the traffic, that is why he was leanient. My observation in the rear view mirror wasn't as good as it should have been, probably due to the fact the Arsenal V Blackburn result was just on the radio.
I think the speed limits should be reviewed anyway. New cars are quicker, but can also stop safely within the highway code regulations. I'm not saying you should go out and drive like a mad man because we now have discs all round, ABS etc, but if it is safe to cruise at that speed sensibly, then why not?
