They are bound to get let off with some stupid "fine".
I say we all get together and pay them a visit. Get Press coverage and make a statement "The British Public will no longer tolerate this" - if their system won't work then try ours..
Although all the do-gooders would say "ooh no we can't have vigilante waffle waffle" the Joe Public would cheer.
Oh and I'm serious btw.

Being a petrol-head, I remember cars out of the ordinary, and I remember seeing the (metallic - almost like the 22B) blue Saxo turn up (only because it was amongst all the Scoobys). However, I did not pay any attention to the occupants as it didn't seem unusual for them to be there.
However, a few suggestions for the future. Go to court and get their addresses for future "payback". Extreme I know, but will the police do anything?
The pit area is fenced off, surely it would be quite easy to close the gates and man these (not too far to walk) and not let anyone out (and only Scoobies and track day cars allowed in). Also, only those that have submitted their name and reg number in advance would be allowed in. Those that didn't would have to park outside in the HUGE main car park (where David U was doing "demosntartions" and not the pit area. Anyone entering or leaving the pit area would have to give their name and it would have to correspond with the "registration details" on the list...
If you're name's (and reg is) not down you're not coming in (or out).... The inconvenience factor would be outweighed by the security advantages (i.e. total piece of mind). Those that turned up on a whim would just have to lump it and park in the main bit - would ensure that people planned a bit more in advance anyway, if they wanted to take advantage of the secure parking area...
Just a thought...

Steve.
Good news mate.
The ****** ******** should have their ******* ******** chopped off and stuffed in their ******* mouths, locked up with some ******** who just loves TWOCer's, and left for ever with a sore botty! (Ooooops, got a bit carried away, sorry! )
Anyway, don't know if it helps, but I got a fairly good look at the driver.
Let me know if I can help.
I can certainly identify his jacket from any photos/video footage.
Stef.

Steve,
A result I think. I am so glad your car turned up as I saw it leaving and thought you'd never get it back in one piece, they'd either smash it up and kill themselves ( I don't think you'd see many people crying over that ) or the police would find it torched or stripped. So well done to the Police on this occasion.
I think the idea of a secure parking area is a brilliant one, people could submit their details by e-mail or post, surely it wouldn't be that difficult to set up. It may not stop these little tw8ts completely but it sure would be a good deterent.
Somebody must know where they hide out, surely a little accident could be arranged for them.......

What about using one of the better steering wheel locks such as Autolok 2000. When I leave my engine running to cool I often attach one of these locks and keep its key with me. The Autolok is a bit bulky to carry around but can be used in these instances where a barrier deadlok can not.

Steve good to hear that this didn't end as badly as it could have. Glad to hear that you are not going to turn to the Darkside (Darth Vectra).
My twopenneth worth is find out when they will be in court. Turn up get there names and a photo, ideally an address. Should justice not prevale I can give you the name of a man (I use that term loosely, more like silver back) who will help gently reform these chaps and persuade them politely that crime does not pay. Nudge nudge

A lot of good ideas re the security for the next events, although i think accusing the security of being involved is a bit rich !
Mike R has some very good suggestions, along with saying you have to show the SIDC card to get in as another option, but that would mean keeping your card with you and not in the tax disk holder reg numbers of cars, and number of passengers, close the main steel gates between 10 and 5 (or whenever) and only let cars in or out that are on the list, and match id etc. Another Idea, noone allowed in the pit lane/garages that is not driving or passengering ? but this would take some of the atmosphere away from the days
All of this will have to be discussed, as this is the first theft from one of our events we obviously dont want to allow it to happen again if we can help it.
Just glad Steve will have it back sooner rather than later, hope it looks ok today Steve.

Steve,
Having been in the Pit garage with you at the time the car went , I'm glad to hear that it was found so quickly, and the ****ing little ****less **se wipes were stupid enough to try and take the car after it was recovered and got caught .
Lets hope that someone has the same ****less **se wipes on tape from the day to help with the proscution.
Also glad that you and yours got home safe, with a little help from Paul, who then had to drive back to meet me because I had his wallet in my pocket from his ride with Darren earlier in the day !!!
Do you think that they could bring back being drawn behind four wild horses (read Scoobs ) for this offence?
Tim

Glad to hear Scoobs has been found safe, and in reasonable shape, it warms your heart to hear all the moral support and kind words from fellow Scooby/other owners, what a great bunch of people you are! Like you Steve, I too thought about sacking owning a decent motor and relieving myself of the worry and heartache...... BUT I came to my senses...... WHY should we let these tossers dictate to us what kind of car we should have to drive, its our choice, we make the decisions NOT them, they are just parasites, envious dirty little ****s, who have nowt, and will never aspire to anything good. The Impreza is an awesome car and the SIDC a great enthusiasts club, brimmed full with great people.
Phew! Sorry about my rant tonight.

Dear Sirs,
Glad to hear that your motor has been found "All and well??"
Just another question now....(or query) Will the insurance company now class this as stolen recovered and place it on a Q???
Thanks for your time,
Rob.

JohnS, from left to right it goes something like this:-
Lee Christie (looking towards you)
Tim Taylor (I think) RB5 owner
The gent in the black coat and the boy, came with Bajie.
In the background :-
Me with the white jumper, blue hat
Cem and passenger
and the gent with the red estate.
Hope this helps

Another idea for security is a simple, but effective one. I've seen it done a few times elsewhere.
The organiser buys a book of raffle tickets.
One ticket goes inside the car, the owner keeps the other. Nobody takes that car anywhere unless the two match.
This could also be used for non drivers cars too. That way the whole meet is protected.
It's a lot cheaper than armbands, non intrusive and allows as many cars to turn up as you like.

hey on those pics above that John has put on - there is stefs car before - well you know what - Stef where did you get that Black rubber thing that you had on your bonnet ? Is it for stone chips ? I'm gonna have to get one after my big dent is fixed

Philip.
It's a 'Car Bra' and I got it from a Scooby dealer in the US.
It is to help reduce stone chips.
I have actually got the full cover for the complete bumper, but US cars don't have headlamp washers!!!!
Anyway, it was ripped in the off, so I've got to get a new one.
If anyone else is interested, it may be cheaper from a postage point of view?

Steve,
Distraught to read the (enormous!) threads about your (even larger) trauma. Glad all is ending fairly well under the cirumstances.
Your post, however, came at an opportune time for myself and many other Elise-owning friends - as we descend upon Donington this coming Saturday for the Club Lotus Weekend.
What a car thief bonanza that could have turned out...but as it is, we Scottish Elise owners will be on our guard...with claymores and bagpipes at the ready ;-)
All the best,
Campbell

All I can say is ` cheeky f*ckers` It makes me sick that they followed the car back to the police yard. I hope they got their heads beaten when they got nicked(probably not though)...oooohhhhh if I could get my hands on them
Just a quick thought if you live in that area.................they will be looking for another one now so be on your guard, they are obviously desparate.
