I really can't understand why people are having issues with what is and what is not acceptable in the FS forum????
If it goes against the STICKY thread......... it's out.

you should read your law about misleading customers......
i said i would not post again in this discussion but some mods leave no choise.
and i am sorry if i wind anyone up just by discussing.
i have no personal gain from my views and i was inocently trying to protect us......so if i winded you up thats your problem and not mine......also moderators are there to help and not to create frictions.

My apologies for the language in my last post.
I'm afraid that I let my frustrations get the better of me, and forgot that I'm no longer in a position to vent my spleen in the same way I used to.
I have edited the inapropriate language.

Bearing in mind Josh's post above, would you be so kind as to edit your post to reflect his changes
He abused his role as a Moderator and should be disciplined accordingly
Seriously though this thread needs too be locked it;s getting beyond a joke.

Stavros,
You really do seem to be missing the point.
ALL we are doing is providing a medium for members of the community to sell products via the forum, in a non commercial format. We clearly state that SN has no responsibility of what is sold (as long as it is legal of course), as it's up to the buyer to ensure that they are "buyer beware".
We are looking at ways of improving the classifieds part of SN, BUT anything that is posted in the forum that is outside of the forum guidelines will be removed.

Man, this place gets worse.
Its just not that serious, if I add a reply and someone dont like it, then edit it, who cares.....
But I would never say anything to offend, its just that you lot wont know my personality and wont know me, so you wont know if i'm messing around or serious.
If a freindly face came to me with an object for sale that I might want, I wont submit to his first offer anyway I'll have a bit of a baiting session and try and get the price down, but it all seems too serious around here.

It is still up to the buyer to satisfy themselves that the price the goods are offered for (or haggled to) are the price that they want to pay. If that means STFW then so be it. It does not mean that other people have the right to interfere with someone else's post with disparaging comments.
Such instances - even if done with the absolute bestest of intentions - will be edited/deleted.
We - the mods - have not got the time to search/investigate every post to ascertain whether the item(s) for sale are of suitable market value
EDIT **************
Re-read & sounds a bit harsh but we are not wishing to apply it in order that the vendor is allowed to "rip" someone off, far from it. However, the internet as a sale medium is "shark-infested" & some of them may indeed be SN members. The buyer really needs to be aware that what may be a "good deal" may in fact be a con - hence why the sticky at the top of the FS forum. We can't protect people from themselves, but we can try & protect them from the obvious sharks - the people with different usernames that bid up prices, the traders under false identities and the various other scamsters out there.
Where it is known that something is a blatant rip off or con or stolen or anything else dodgy, then by all means get in touch with us in order that we might do something about it. Just posting an attack on the forum will get everyone no-where Help us to help you but make it via RTM or email, not posts on other people's threads.
Thanks

so........if someone asks a price for a product and a member of scoobynet finds it cheaper on the net (brand new) i think its our obligation to the other scoobynet members to post how much that particular product costs.....
especially when the seller attaches other websites that state the maximum price for that product.
thus by doing this we will protect each other....as a nice family we all are....

Acutally typing that out puff made me realise its been a little while since i have actually sold anything thru scoobynet, then i realised why, its all be going up on Ebay and i know other scoob owners doing the same because that way is low maintenance, you dont have to justify your prices when you use them, people don't try to take the mick when they turn up to collect, the bidding and final purchase price is non negotiable and you dont get -
1. the cash machine was empty so im £20 short
2. there is a scratch here (get microscope out)
3. ooo its not quite the right colour/need to get it painted
sad to say its only the last 8-9 months that i've noticed the above happening, in the 'good old days' i can remember people sending goods before payment was received and all sorts of goodwill going on like buyers waiting months for boost gauges

A lot of sense on both sides of the argument. I must admit I've never had a prob buying on SN(goods delivered before cheque clears sometimes) but if I am buying something I know what it should cost before I go looking.
If people want to bargain/question price etc surely this should be done direct with the seller using email(if supplied). That way stops most of the probs mentioned

At the end of the day, the for sale forum is a service offered free to members.
The admins are within their rights to do what they want with the posts.
If you don't like this, you can always take the sale elsewhere, or mail the seller off-board.
Forums like this need to be carefully monitored, otherwise anarchy rules. Once that happens, you might as well pack it up and leave!

Luke,
If you notice anything Suss then RTM it. The for sale mods to a stunning job of find out who is legit and who is not. But they can only really make sure they are consistant if the users help them out too.

Lets be honest about this, if you manage to flog a car solely by advertising it on the Scoobynet for sale forum you are very lucky
Autotrader charge about £10 for this priviledge and in my opinion is worth every penny.
If you don't want your price knocked, people wasting your time who clearly aren't in a position to buy your car and having to constantly bring your ad BTTT then DO NOT USE Scoobynet. Instead use Autotrader or findit.co.uk where your ad cannot get slagged off.
It's that simple.
Non car sales is a different kettle of fish and should have a separate forum altogether.
This is just my opinion.[/b]

Sorry Stavros, but your comments are really beginning to wind me up.
Recently, I put an item up for sale. There was a modicum of interest in the item, but I'd not finalised anything. At that point a brainless moron I've never heard of leaps in with a post saying, in as many words " I can't believe you people are making offers on this POS....etc etc" This was folloew up by an equally stupid member posting the odd snide remark about people buying this item. Despite having bought exactly the same thing off another member last year. Within about 30 minutes, all 3 potential buyers made their excuses and left.
I have never heard of these guys, and have certainly never done anything to warrant such an unproked attack.
Please tell me how that has been of any benefit to anyone, as this is the kind of post you and Luke are trying to allow.
Josh

"Sorry Stavros, but your comments are really beginning to **** me off."
Sorry but if you are going to reply as a moderator then this type of reply is wrong. You must lead by example.
We are all looking at the matter from many angles..... (!!)
