I don't think you have talked an ounce of sense since this whole issue Pete. You seem to be one with a very itchy finger. I would be very afraid of you were you in power.
All Blair has done is attract attention to the UK and made it a very plausible target for more terrorist activity.
Have you seen the anti-war activists rallying in London at the moment? I'm not alone in these thoughts.
Cem, regretting ever having got involved in this.

To be fair to the Talebans, this sounds fairly reasonable (it's a joke OK !)

There really is not a lot of point going on about Blair bringing extra publicity on the UK by standing by America. NATO's policies have made this a necessity anyway. An attack against America is an attack against all - we are defending ourself.
We are not the only ones taking action, as are France, Germany, the Swiss and many other countries who are committing resources (aid and military) against the Taliban regime.
Lets hope it can be resolved quickly and with as little civilian casualties as possible. No use saying we shouldn't be doing it - we are whether we think it is right or not, all we can hope is for swift action and an end to this asap.

Gary, you were the one accusing me of American propaganda when I said that we should continue with this course of action. The majority of my posting concerned the Taliban and the cruelty of the regime. I did not 'twist your words' I merely asked whether that was what you were implying in your accusation.
And as for those people who wondered whether more innocents would die last night than in the WTC centre attack...current Taliban estimates are 20 civilian deaths. Regrettable but nowhere near the level of death seen at the WTC. In fact, nowhere near as high as the Taliban are capable of doing on their own...

I agree, I don't think anyone with an ounce of intelligence has not noticed this. For TB this makes a lot of political sense, and for the UK as a whole would prefer to be on the side of the biggest bully (USA) in the playground ...
(Ethically, This is a terrible conflict to be involved with, the USA *should* be setting an example)

pete you are right,
no thought or consideration was given to those 6000 innocents in the world trade centre.
the taliban (don't give a hoot about the spelling) are protecting the perpetrator (the u.s. government has managed prove this to foreign powers including pakistan and russia). are the taliban handing him over for trial???? NO. FACT.
FACT. the USA could destroy the afghan populous with all manner of horrendous weapons.
FACT. the USA is choosing tactical strikes with MINIMAL (war aint perfect) civilian casulaties. aid is being flown in to help civilians.
i support this action 100%. if this is what it takes to stop attrocities like the world trade centre then so be it. if i get called up to defend this country then so be it. my grandad defended this island when he was called to do so and i aint going to let him, or anyone else in my family down.
if any of you tree huggers don't like this then tuff. it's my opinion and i'm entitled to it.
prayers to the allied soldiers who are fighting for the JUST cause.

if you are guilty of such an atrocity or harbouring people who committed it u have to pay the price.
any right thinking /acting country is a target.
get real peeps, they have to pay and you simply try to minimalise the affect on the truly innocent in that particulr country.
as much as i dont agree with blair / labour and did not vote for him he is right in supporting the americans (our allies) in their repsonse to such an act (of war).
would it be different if London had been hit instead ???
they want to try to harm people - innocent people who were going to work / working for a living ffs - damn cowards - then they damn well have to pay the fkin price.
to hell with them.

I work in aerospace.
Due to the events of Sept 11th lots of planes are grounded and millions of jobs have been lost or are under threat worldwide. My job is under threat as we do a lot of work for Swissair, Sabena, BA, Virgin, BMA, Ansett, Cathy Paciffic, Tap, Airitallia, Delta, American Airlines etc, etc.
People have said no knee-jerk reaction. We have waited for nearly a month and demands have not been met, now is the time for action.
We need to round them ( the terrorist scum and their supporters ) up, put them in a field and "BOMB THE *******S"
Yes, a few innocent people may die, but
6,000 innocent people died on Sept 11th.
I hope they go after ETA and the IRA ( to name but a few ) as well as they have killed thousands of innocent people.

Yes, thats the selfish way ..... remember, YOU are the leader of the free world, running away is NOT an option!
As you think that Blair and Bush are talking and doing a **** job I am VERY sure that YOU have an opinion as to what they should have done that would have made you happy???
You say that I have not talked any sense since 11th September - well, that may be the case - could you please give me some lessons??
Pete

How can being a pacifist be associated with selfishness?
All you're concerned with is how soon we hit the nuke button.
Which isn't very selfish at all, is it?

There you go - talking cr4p again!!
Nuke button, indeed!!
You STILL havent said what you would do if you were in charge of the free world?? get everyone to run to the hills and hug trees? fit all our tanks with only reverse gears?
The answer is, of course, that you have no answer - you just slag the leaders off, adding nothing of any substance to the debate - go back to the muppetts where you belong
