New to the board. Drive an RS4 myself... The police should be solving burglaries, muggings and TWOCings. We all seem to be responsible adults, who are capable of speeding ONLY when appropriate!! So buy : 1. Morpheous Geodesy, and 2. A Target Laserecho Jammer. Keep your wits about you, and you are bulletproof for £700 quid.

Regards, Tim

well when my car was stolen did i see a police man NO so where was they then prob sitting on his **** eating doughnuts drinking coffee and pulling motorists coz they got a no. plate bulb out. i have lost all respect for the police because of this and will tell the next fuzzy wuzz when he pulls me for driving with fog light s on in the daytime.
in my opinion the police care to much about money easy paperwork and getting their revenue in than getting out there and catching real criminals.

blood pressure returning to normal now!

Thanks for making my point so succinctly. You want the option to decide on appropriate speed on the roads you know or are travelling on. This is completely unrealistic. You do agree that you can't set an appropriate speed on the road outside my house, so really the only way to do this is to categorise it depending on surroundings. Speed limits are set to allow EVERYONE to use roads and footpaths with a reasonable amount of safety. The speed limits are not always appropriate, but as one person needs to make the decision then thay must be catagorised. At this point someone else must enforce this law. As the limit is the limit, this would imply that the limit would be as shown on the little signs we all know and love so dearly. If you go over this you are breaking the law. It doesn't matter if is by 1mph or 100. You are still breaking the law. I can't see how you hope to justify this on the basis that you believed it was safe. Who made you an expert?

Mr Henderson - If you bothered reading the thread you would see that I do not agree with the speed limits, but see no point in crying like a spoilt puppy when I get caught breaking them. You obviously do. Why can't you be nicked for doing 71? 41 MPH over the limit seems a bit excessive to me!!!

If you don't like his rant don't read it -post on it, surly this makes your point less valid than his. Like lots of things in life speeding fines are (almost) a complete waste of time. Rant all you want Mr 1100 dont get brain washed by the PC brigade.
Thankyou Mate! Finally somebody who can SEE! There are too many COPPER wanna-bees on this site

<B>The theory behind speed cameras is an excellent one.

In reality, a large percentage are revenue gatherers and I think most people will agree on that.

My problem is that there are seven or eight schools in my local area. Are there speed cameras outside any of them ? (despite the fact that children have actually been killed by speeding drivers by one of these schools).

Reply, no.

So I still play 'dodge the ********' with my four year old daughter every day that I pick her up from school, while the police are hiding behind the de-restricted sign about 800yds up the road, cathing people who are gently accelerating out into clear road territory.

That is my argument. Yes, bring the cameras out and enforce the limit rigidly, but for God's sake do it where people will see it's benefit.

blubs
That's what I was saying! Cameras outside schools with a FIXED limit of 20MPH! Big open roads with sodd all on them, rip em all down!

EXACTLY!!!! Crime is getting worse, things are going down the toilet everywhere! What do the police do, sit in cars nicking people for a iffy side light!
They never say, OH, lets have more police actually policing the streets and solving crimes. NO! Lets wack loads-a-cameras round town centres to SPY on people and put less police on the streets so things get worse and they can put more and more cameras about! Then, OH! We need more money, lets hide some cameras behind some signs (A2 for example)! PEOPLE WAKE UP!!! BIG BROTHER IS COMING FAST AND HARD!

Deary me, making it formal are we! Mate, if you think its OK to get done for doing 71 your a VERY sad man who is obviously the OLD BILL! Your the kind of person who thinks its OK to put cameras everywhere and less and less ACTUAL crime prevention!! Have you not read anything on this page? People are sick of the fact that these people ponce about nicking people for minor offences and ignore the proper crime because its easier on them!! Much easier to give some crap reports on some mateys light bulb that getting of there ***** and solving some crime! I suppose you would know all about it being a copper yourself

Did anybody see last nights Daily Mail?

They had a big section on Speed Cameras! In 1996, 1997 & 1998 major road accidents in the county of Essex where around the 80 mark. In 1999 when they wanted the cameras to mysteriously jumped to over 120. Then in 2000 & 2001 in dropped back down to the 80's.

They are now saying that these cameras are obviously have no effect on accidents at all, so what is the point of having them.

They simply won't admit it's for REVENUE!!!!
