When do you think you will have the engine in, up and running ?
I can't wait to see one of these big builds perform
Is yours likely to be the first one ready ? I think J Banks is expecting his shortly although it is a bit lower spec than yours from what I can pick from the little snippets of info available
Did you get sorted for gearing/diffs ?
Andy

Andy..
It will be up and running soon and mine is a lot higher specced than johns from what I can work out speaking to John & Paul, unsure what cams etc he's running..
I dont want to post the full specs until Ive paid in full and the work has been completed.. What do you want to know though?
Gearbox is at barretts being checked due to closeness of totb.
looks like it runs a 1.1:1 drop gear, where as jap and Aus run 1:1, according to my my03 service manual.

John
tut tut were you not told to keep that a secret
David, I was just wondering how you were progressing, that's all. It looks like yours will be one of the few big engines to appear at TOTB2 as they are all backing out for various reasons.
I'm genuinely looking forwards to seeing it go, especially if it is fully lightened. I had my own car out last night for the first time in a few months (broken box) and I'd forgot just how quick it was. It's surprising how soon you get familiar with it though and want 'more' again
If you need someone to hold the AP22, give me a shout

John sounds very similar... except Ive stayed phase 1 heads.. STI something or other
Im having the pistons played with (coated) and different valves, springs, cans etc.. and a fairly low compression ratio.. is above 6:1 though...
Andy It WILL be ready... I will ensure it.. so will a couple of others... went to get hoses sorted today... looking goood... then its just wiring and shimming heads etc..
AP22 would be interesting
(might be buying one with steven.. might see if trout wants to chip in.. whats the part number for the scottish version
Car working -- Does that mean the ecu's in??

If anyone will make it I'm sure YOU will !!
If you get an AP22 I can give you the data from my one for rolling resistance, drag coefficient, trigger etc, the only change would be the weight for each occasion. There are 3 up here all running the same settings and I think Bob is also running them. Useful if we are all talking about the same size of horses for a change
ps don't buy the AP22 software, the limited time free trial download can easily be retained after it times out

Hi guys, Andy yes I am using the same settings as you, just the weight to change. Since doing that I have been getting good consistent results and can achieve less than a 7bhp spread over three/four runs on the same stretch of road.

Cleaned under the bonnet today with some fooking lethal cleaning stuff..
Sorted out borrowing an engine..
Finishing touches to turbo have been finished

Fuel Rails are being cleaned in cleaner at the moment, will sort out pipe work once spare engine is in..
Just three more spacers to make..
need to order drill bit for stainless steel to drill turbo flanges..
David
Dave what did you use to clean the engine bay with? Can i have some
Like the new "from" bit
Can i blag that roll of wrap, together with your locking wire please
Steven

A good quality drill bit should work with stainless.
I was also told, although havent tried myself, that using planty of water as a lubricant for drilling/cutting stainless is best.
It can be a bollox to work with.

Stevie's correct, a normal HSS bit will drill stainless no problem. Just keep it cool (water/wd40/oil/anything wet) and keep the pressure on it and don't let it squeal !
