Sorry to hijack your thread david, i noticed from some of your others threads you had a new up pipe, have you still got the old one? Are you interested in selling it?

I think to say that they will not work is a bit of an exaggeration. Almost any exhaust will work as long as it is connected to the turbo.
Just some better than others. Can you enlighten us why you claim it wont work???

I recognise that up-pipe...
I see your plan.
Attach known UP.
Fab dexion into place
Use dexion for positioning new flanges for new up-pipe.
I hope you make some plans when you're done!

I did wonder whether it was worth machining out the centre of the throttle body on mine, thought for a min on how to make a perfect fitting brass throttle plate..
and put it back on.. standard

Paul..
Make the most of what you have..
Andy, so you not bothering??
Dad told me it would be easy.. im not so convinced.. apparently its just a circle on a different plane... He mentioned cutting a piece of wood to the right angle with the chop saw then fix a piece of metal to this and spin in the lathe and turn to relevant size?? Make sense??

makes perfect sence, only it's not round.
A cirlce would fit nicely in the throttle body in the exactly 90 degree position... but in reality it doesn't shut that far.
It's more of an oblong than a circle.
I could see me filing and sanding for weeks to get it right !!

however if its mounted on the correct angle in a lathe you can turn it as a circle.

David,
Let me know the diameter and the angle of the throttle plate and I will create a flat pattern PDF you can print out use to cut the throttle butterfly.
If your diameter is the same as mine, I will investigate the lazer option at work

Well.. theres a story to this..
I may enlarge the back bit with a taper now.. as there are three horizontal drillings at the top for the purge solenoid, which is not needed my my new ecu.. so I may just bore through to these and then weld the grooves up and then remachine..
Not happy with the squareness of the tb either so will bolt it to a faceplate and remachine it...
Will let you know paul.. what ID is there on the phase 2?
I dont think there is much need to go bigger as the i/c pipe work isnt that big???

I think 64mm might be possible on phase 2, but i wanted more wall thickness just after the area for the hose to clamp on. Although you could weld a few areas to ensure strength
