New Engine / DriveTrain Project
edit..again
JGM.
you have to look closely at that wastegatepipe
It's not a hole but the actual pipe bending down and backwards.
the greyer colour round it is the floor.
Oh and David.
I don't like the protrusion of wastegate pipe into the up pipe, are you grinding that off/ flush ??
Andy
Picture removed...
No offence !

Hi David,
I am pleased that after many months of late nights and much project frustration that you still know how complete the simple tasks like where to put your ****

Hopefully I will get a chance to say hello at TOTB II - good luck!
Regards,
Callum

The funny thing is i was going to ask the same as you Simon
For a while i thought that was the hole in the subframe
David, assuming that the wastegate is going on the end of that pipe (read assuming again), should it not be closer to the up pipe itself??
Are you going to wrap the headers?
Are you happy with them?
so many questions
Rob

right..
I got really pissed off trying to do it.. so worked out roughly where the pipe should go.. took and off cut and tack welded it on in (three places).. Then turned power up full and burnt a big hole through... 1" dia.. then stuck die grinder in and opened it out enough to get pipe in and position it.. still waiting to be sure b4 welding it up..

I thought I was with you then.. but that's the up pipe..
Surely the wastegate pipe work will be in the downpipe or straight off the turbo.. having a closer look looks like what I was looking at was the exhaust from the other bank coming up and connecting in.. cannot be sure though..

Because it's a remote mount wastegate it takes its supply prior to the turbo and then dumps it either into the downpipe (hence bypassing the turbo) or in this case dumps it direct to atmosphere
.......unsilenced

Which of course means the car is not road legal and will be banned from TOTB
but don't tell David, you'll just upset him
Geez, I'm bored having nothing left to do to the car , I wish TOTB was tomorrow

Oh.. I knew it was dumping to atmos but assumed the downpipe would be where it split etc..
Just take a small moped silencer, then if you get any trouble at TOTB David just weld it on quick (assuming there is a welder avaiable).

Good luck mate - mind that gearbox! (assuming you've repaired it of course, or don't you need third?
)
Rob - hope you've got somewhere to host then, 'cos I want to see this bad boy fly
