jjones - look at this pic:
You see the car next to it? It's a BMW 540. Yep - 40. That's a 4 litre V8 giving it over 280 bhp, limited to 155mph, on one of the best handling rear wheel drive cars of it's age. That's my brother's car which I followed for the 100ish miles back from buying the car.
For the entire journey my "heap of ****" managed to keep up with it all the way, especially on the corners. That's something which my last (and 15bhp more powerful) car could not have done.
I was able to break the speed limits all the way back with ease if I wanted to.
The car does exactly what I need it to do, for a damn sight less money than a turbo would do it, and with just as much enjoyment.

I will back up Mike on this. While mine was quicker on the straights obviously, through the fast winding roads on the way home I was not hanging about, and he stuck with me all the way. As an ex Cavalier owner myself, that is not something his old car, or most cars can do.
Trust me

Dude - I've lent my camera to a friend at the moment, so he can take pictures of his new BMW Z3 2.8
When I get it back will take some better ones of mine.

i told buzz, a good friend, that his gran would be turning in her grave at the thought that he had spent the 3k her left her on mods. i posted that then saw a post from someone NOT in my circle of friends who had spent their inheritance on a car, who had posted after buzz but before i had submitted my reply. i then immediately REMOVED my post so not to cause offence to this third party person (needless to say buzz did not spend 3 k from his gran modding a sport to look like a turbo).
no offence was intended to this third party which is why i removed my post and replaced it with "ooops" within seconds of seeing the post from this third party, buzz's post that i intended to reply to, had been superceeded while i was composing my reply.

Thanks mate - most of it was funny looking back but I think the line was overstepped slightly too much!!
Nevermind - all in the past.
Have a good birthday you old (and therefore can afford the insurance on a turbo) b@stard

Hey all sport owners!
Just wanted to let y'all know that I changed my piddly zorst (I swear it was 1 inch) to a nice rumbly 2.5" WRX one. The mechanics also had to modify the flange to 2.5" as well.
It make the rear end of the car look mad. And it's loud too. My housemates heard me coming home before I'd even got halfway up the hill.
Unfortunately it's TOO loud (oh yes, such a thing exists). Because of the car size (wagon) the centre pipe lets out too much reverb which causes a major drone @ 100km/h in 5th @ 3000rpm. Only way to get rid of the droning is to speed and risk getting pulled over. No thanks!
So I'm going back on Monday to hook up a slightly more baffled muffler which should help reduce cabin noise.
Pics next week!

Huffer I done my zorst at the weekend too. The lovely lads at Hayward and Scott fitted it for me.
i went from the normal standard 'pea shooter' to a whooping great 4" hand built jobby, , sound fantastic at 99db, but due to living round an area full of goffin dodgers i have to be a tad considerate at 5 am when on earlies, but apart from that 'LOUD PIPE SAVES LIVES' Pics of mine and new spoiler when all complete
