Ive got Motec as well John and runs pretty well.
If you do go after Motec, ill give you a name of a supplier who should be able to sort you out the new motec ecu at a good price.
Launch control is set up on mine, only thing i got to set up next is anti lag

Quite easy to make a plug conversion loom. This way you can build it as a breakout box as well, allowing quick and easy signal testing at ecu. Pop in, I have a breakout looms I can show you.

I'll do that Job. Seeing if I can get more licenses to give the OEM ECU another blast, once I have one setup running off MAP it will be as easy to tweak for new stuff as it is now. For example, I think new turbo could be mapped in 5 or 10 re-flashes. The initial setup of speed density may require 50 or so reflashes though.

Take my word for it.. plug in ecu = 'restricted features'
Its not at all hard..
remove engine wiring loom, unplug from two multiplugs under washer bottle.
Run two new wires from here for:
Oil Pressure warning, if req.
Water Temp Gauge
Then throw new ecu in footwell and secure.. take damaged MY00 ecu from flashing and cut connectors off flush with board.
Then cut the bent part of the lags off the connectors.. so pins stick out straight..
Find the following connections:-
Rev Counter
Ign
Fuel Pump
Air con - If Req.
VSS Sensor (if you want to log VSS on datalogs)
then pass the whole of the remaining loom through into the bonnet and then just connect things up.. ie new wiring for injectors. coil, etc..
It could be done by making a full loom adaptor easily but std looms can cause problems with interference and gnd faults.. lot easier the way I did mine..
Only problem was i didnt get the crank pos sensor wiring the correct way around which caused the timing to be out slightly.. which can be tested with a scope and a sensor.. didnt have the sensor to hand when making the loom though..

no probs.. I spent a fair bit of time looking, best bet is find out what features you want and then make a list of possible ecu choices, also think whether you can use it on your next car, or sell it outside the subaru market when you buy an M5.
Dont just look at the spec of the ecu and think.. oo its got xyz Ill use all them.. and then realise it cant do boost control.

I do so love reading other peoples experiences with 2.5 engines.

Crail today, 12.2 at 121 mph (by T-uk driving), my best was 12.3 at 119, also had a 12.5 at 120.
Optimum launch RPM was 3300, no use launching in 2nd or doing a 1st-3rd change.
If T-uk had managed my 60' time or I had managed his changes thereafter, the potential of the car was 12.0.
T-uk is right it is hampered by the 6 speed's extra gearchange and too short ratios 1-4. ET seems poor considering the excellent terminals (comparable to Harvey for example).
AndyF on the same strip previously did 11.66 at 123 - same power, same turbo, less weight (about 1150 vs 1300kg), better driver (manages good 60' and consistent), 2.0 (so less favourable power band), 5MT longer gearing.
Will be interesting to see what the six speed cars do at York this year. T-uk and I reckon that if you can get a 5MT to hold together it will probably be quicker.
Halldor from Iceland's times on the 6MT are the exception.
Roll on the iON and 7500 RPM limit. Don't know when that will be yet.

Id be happy with 400/400 and a standard looking car (on the outside).
Its very possible to achieve 400 (ish) with an Sti7 (JDM), appropriate mods/turbo and the factory ecu.
It does need complimentary mods though. the torque would not come up to that though, more like mid ish 300's. A 2.5 should achieve that result using a new age ecu, much more to play with.

do not think you should really compare different days and especially venues. like rolling roads , I would only go with same day comparisons.

I agree, much worse than rollers, in theory rollers are corrected, no correction going on in any of those figures. 1/4 times are a damn good way of simply seeing "how fast" though, as long as you make allowance for 35 deg ambient v's 10 deg ambient
Personaly I think those figures tell a lot about traction! My little MK1 gets 110 / 115mph trap speeds but can't break into the 12's...

Even though you didn't get an 11. You are defo in the low 11s with those trap speeds, so consider it done, i.e. an 11.
