Nurburgring - Easter 2003 - Finally!
#93
Getting all excited, just fitted brand new clutch, genuine brand new WRC spec AP 378mm discs with AP 6 pot water-cooled calipers (not connected the cooling up yet, as I think they stop "okay" as they are at the moment) and titanium pistoned ex-works 4 pots with 314mm on the rear and hydraulic handbrake. To say it stops well now is an understatemment along the lines of saying that Bernard Manning is a tad overweight...

Oh Lord, you fancy a lesbo bar?
Remember:
Heaven is where:
the police is English
the mechanics are German
the cooks are French
the lovers are Italian
and it's all organized by the Swiss!

In fact my Salon is not yet on the road. I'll get my wheels only next week and it has to be registered still. So it will be my first outing in it Are you brave enough?
See you then

You'll probably catch me up en route I'm on the 7am tunnel. I'll be cruising at an indicated 70mph (well Iget 40mpg at that speed)
Where are you staying?

Have just fitted new brakes and braided hose to mine. Seems OK, despite being done by Mr.Heath and Mr.Robinson! LOL
See you all on Friday morning
Matt
Anders: FFS just drop it and move on. Sad.

Oh yeah Mr Askew ......
Pick up the Clio Cup tommorrow.. then drive to yours, I will arrive a few mins early so you can take it for a blast. Still in shock that I bought a 4mth old car with 5k for 9 grand, guy had 5 cars and wanted a quick sale as his new Elise arrives tomorrow and he is running out of drive space .....
Can you mail me some details of the best way to get to yours, I know your work in Purley, from there would be great.

Well what can I say - The whole weekend has been a hoot - loads of very special memories ...
Firstly good to meet everyone, I have an unfortunate feeling that I will see you lads more and more now I have tasted the Ring hmmmm where is that E30 M3 !
Cheers to Matt for organising - pimp suite was great, although I never discovered where the secret door went to That 1st lap out on Friday was an experience to say the least, 4up in the M5 and barely anything came past!
Thanks to Tav for the most amusing lap of the weekend.. That bloody Skoda can shift and takes kerbs with ease
And of course thanks to Rupert for the lift, the company and the memories with the F40 on the way back. And it does take two to tango so cheers Mr Lloyd (the porker driver is still suffering )
I have never ever had so much fun in the space of a few hours..
202mph following a Ferrari F40, and then again later when both cars nailed it in 3rd side by side up to just shy of 200mph, OMG the noise, just wait until you boys see the video footage
I could go on and on it was that good, but we'll have to save that until a beer is in hand !

Paul, I understand it was still pulling at 202mph (GPS reading, Autobahn). Standard boost aswell!
Why lift at 200, I thought thats what the rev' limiters were for, driving like a big girls blouse again!!!
Hope everyone had a good time, without accidents or breakdowns.
Any Bridge to Gantry times?
Cheers, Stuart

Top weekend chaps - must do it again sometime
Thanks once again to Matt for arranging the hotel and for an "interesting" lap round
Poor ol' TT took it all in it's stride and is currently having a hard earned rest back at the airport car park, slightly singed and smoking but otherwise ok
Looking forward to the next one.....
Ta,
Matt
