Having only met Gary through Dave and Grant at AWD in Perth a few times, we have never known one person to make such an impression. Once met never forgotten!!
He was as genuine a person as you'll ever meet and had time for anyone regardless of what you drove as long as you had an interest in cars.
Our sympathies go to Veronica and all the family
Jerry, Ruth & girls
P.S. Just a thought, but does anyone think it might be an idea for all going to the funeral on Friday to get some black ribbon attached to the car aerials as a mark of respect?

Very, Very sad to hear about this.
I'd met Gary many times over the years, even away from Subaru events, and he had a great sense of humour and mischief about him.
He'll be sadly missed.

We first met Gary at Crail, that was about a year ago. We were the other green scooby that he had heard about that came from the local area, he was not mighty impressed that we had bought the car with alot of extras on it and that he was wanting all of these extras on his. We hit it off from the begining after that and have been quite close since. He made and fitted my front splitter for me thats just the kind of guy he was, allways helping others. We had the greatest respect for him and his passion for his car and the club.
Our hearts feel empty, we have trully lost a top guy.
Our thoughts and sorrow are with his wife and family.

I met Gary a few times, his energy and enthusiasm always brightened any day.
The world would be a better place if a few more people were like him.
My thoughts are with his family at this sad time.
George.

Hello to all scooby owners and friends of Gary,
I have been a friend of Gary and Veronica for nearly 10 years now and when I got the phone call the following morning of his death it has left me stunned at what has happened. I amoungst many of you was there at the funeral and for those that were there can agree that he got the send off that he trully deserved. A friend of mine told me of this website and I had to come and look. On looking I have seen all these messages of sympathy and condolance to Veronica and to Gary's family and I would like to on behalf of Veronica and Gary's family to say thank you all for your kind words and gestures. He has been a true friend to me and many others and will be sadly missed.
With kind thanks,
Les Nicholson.

Les,
It was the least we could do.
Gary was a good m8 of mine for the last 4 years or so. We had
to give hime a good send off as a matter of course. I could just
imagine Gary lookin down & laughing on Friday at the Kingsway
being brought to a standstill on his behalf.
We`re gonna miss his antics at the meets & shows, cos that was
Gary just being Gary. He won`t be forgotten m8, thats for sure.
BTW thanks to everyone from out of town that attended.
It just goes to show how close the real petrolhead community is.
Incidentally, the collection is to run until 24/02/03 (one week on Monday). In order to give anyone who wants to make a donation plenty of time to get it to me, drop it into AWD or make arrangements to have it collected.
Thanks to all who have already done so.
Pete

Just read the thread for the first time.

I just found out about this on Sunday Night and I feel gutted, my wife and I had the pleasure of knowing Gary through the now defunct modified car club, this guy was one in a million, I remember him having about twenty or thirty people laughing their heads off at Santa Pod back in '97 or '98, our thoughts are with Veronica and the rest of Garys close family and friends.

Gerry ,Lynda and gary's sisters would like to thank everyone who sent messages of condolence. We would also like to thank everyone for the turnout ,gary would have been very proud.
All the messages have shown to us, that it was not only his family that loved him but everyone whom he talked to felt the same way.
God Bless.

hi sorry to drag this up after such a long time, almost 6 months (next fri) after that night but i joined up recently and started searching about as i always remembered gary nattering on about the scooby club.
some of the replies on here have been lovely and made my spine tingle. it was an amazing site to see all those scoobies at the funeral for gary, the most scooby daft man in the world.
as i said sorry to bring it up again but i just had to reply after seeing how much he meant to everyone else too

As all Scottish members will now be aware, the community
suffered a great blow on Friday when Gary McMullan tragically
died as the result of a fatal road traffic accident in his dark
green metallic YM95 impreza.
As a personal friend, I for one am deeply saddened by this loss
and cannot express how hurtfull it was to hear of this.
I can only offer my deepest sympathies to Veronica and his family.
Below are the details of arrangements,
Lets all make sure Gary gets the sendoff he deserves.
The following was extracted from the local newspaper today :
"Reception of remains in St. Leonard & St.Fergus R.C church
St. Leonard Place, Dundee. On Thursday 13/02/03 at 5:30pm.
Funeral mass on Friday at 11:00am, to which all friends are
invited. Interment thereafter in Birkhill Cemetary at 12:15pm.
Family flowers only."
In the event that you cannot attend, If you post your condolances
and messages. I will print off the entire thread on Friday at 0:15 and personally hand it to Veronica.
