Question

Sinky, having re-read your post, I have seen the spec of your rig and am very interested 'drool'. Any info on it?

Have had a look for it on www.talking-directly-out-of-my-bottom.com, but they don't seem to list it?

Not sure mate. Who would the name appear as in the sender field? I get a load of stuff daily nowadays and sometimes things slip as I am getting increasingly busy

Chris,

It actually runs quite cool, even with 4 big discs in there and so quiet, half the time I don't know if it is on or not.

I used to be able to hear my Precision 330 from a floor down because of the vibration on the floorboards but this box is very quiet. Only time it really gets noisy is when you start pushing it hard with lots of disc I/O. Then you can hear all four discs clicking away and the fans bump up a gear or two.

Cheers

Ian

It certainly is Si - SuperMicro SM750 full tower... it sounds fast alone

I gave up blowing large amounts of my disposable on PC hardware (that is out of date before it's even reached your doorstep) years ago. PC does everything I need it to do at a decent rate of knots, so no need to line Intel or AMDs pocket is there?

Next upgrade will be a Shuttle XPC.

Interesting thread.

Like IanWatkins I don't give a **** anymore about performance.

Increasingly, people are getting interested as to how QUIET their machine is. I'm currently looking around for new psu and fans that will offer low db.

Thinking of getting one of these:

cheeky c**t si !!!

Yep Ian know what you mean, as a fellow delphi-ite Im only concerned with fast compiles and small executables that easy to deploy (laughs at the VB boys) which is why I still run Delphi V5 cos each version just adds a little more un-necessary weight.

Si stop blowing goats will ya!!!!

DazV - Vantec Aeroflow fans are the best cooling fans with low db about, ideal for cpu cooling.

Enermax best PSU atmo, not sure how quiet tho.

Don't count the Papst fans out. Looked at the Vantec specs and not all that amazing.

It is a fairly close run thing, but the Latest Antec Truepower series PSU's are supposed to be the top dogs.

Cheers,

Nick.

P.S. Got your email. Good God When I have a day to write off, I will try to reply
