Stuggling to save/pay for the insurance now, got to save up £1650 Fully comp, £1000 for excess! - just incase anything happens.
And yeh before you ask, I am paying for it myself.

Insurance - fully comp 280 NZ dollars (divide by about 4 to get to pounds sterling).
Now that, after reading all your moans about insurance premiums, puts a large smile on my old, wrinkly face[/quote]
Did I read this right m8????
280NZ dollars divided by 4= £70...... a year for fully comp
Looks like I may emigrate

yep, car insurance here is cheap; it's based almost solely on your age and the dollar value of your car. You take a hit if you're under 25 (so use your parent's insurance).
of course there's a downside here - car insurance is completely optional; so if you have a run-in with another vehicle, make sure the other car is a good one, otherwise it probably (legally) carries no insurance.
