David, I agree with you, but was refering to the tuning establishments that derive information from this bbs without contributing. Unfortunately there will always be someone who would try and make gain from the efforts of another ... whilst I freely post in most cases there are things I am not prepared to put into the public domain, as you know I will always help out where I can.

Lol Pat, but you guys should be getting "close" to it. I really don't have a problem with the map sensor, don't intend to hold more than two bar and the three bar I have has enough head room as it nicely reads past it, Link map will read up to the same level as well so not an issue "yet", I have a four bar for the Motec when I get round to it.

One of the downsides is that I found that I have got a very big groove in both front tyres ... its a clearly formed shape and has taken the whole shoulder off, I suspect as a result of the scrabbling around on the rollers the other week. Will take a pic and post it up, if anyone has any other thoughts about it be grateful, its in both tyres and the wear is symetrical in all respects so not a "normal" alignement issue unless the torque is flexing the suspension arms.

Bob,

point taken - and my post was not to have a poke at you per se - was more of a reflection of the profoundly negative undertones that the board has taken on in the past few weeks - too much innuendo and not enough fact.

Given recent results there should be a welcome celebration of success for several cars, but too many of the associated posts are celebrating this success only if it comes at the cost undermining or attacking others who still aspire or are still on a journey.

Andy,

no, I am not going to share my spec - indeed - given the general comments here I am very much in two minds as to whether it, or its results will ever be shared - there is no joy in the kind of posts that these power threads seem to thrive on.

Enjoy your car - have your fun...

Well done Bob, that's an amazing result!!

I only miss owning a Subaru when I think of the fun that was had at rolling road days, meets and the banter/information shared on the board.

To be honest I'm glad I sold up when I did! I can do without the back biting, which seems to be more common now!!

Maybe I'm the only one (stuck out in the sticks of Swissieland, where the Scoob is still a 'Farmers Ferrari' ), but I think it would be a great shame if the information stopped flowing

Do you not think that part of the reason there are so many 300+ cars on the board now is down to exactly this point?

There will always be conflict between commercial interest and information flow - it is down to people with a commercial interest to manage this, which I think those on this board do very well.

As collective knowledge expands, commercial solutions to service them will follow.

I agree about the hidden agenda thingy - I just don't care (why should I?)....until people suddenly decide not to share anymore....leaving me in the sh*t with an engine in a million pieces, lol

I think people are happy to share info, just not to thrust it into the public domain.

As a supplier, it's very hard when it comes to sharing information. On the one hand, as an enthusiast, you want to help people, but on the other, it's the same information that you rely on for your livelyhood.

Bob Rawle, for example has been working on his current set up for nearly 7 months, and will have incurred substantial costs in the process. Now, is it reasonable to expect him, or others in his position, to just give that information away, to people who have no intention of using his, or the other peoples services ?

The other problem, is that just giving away "some" information, can be very misleading, and cause the people using the information a lot of problems, and extra expense.

I totally understand where Bob is coming from when he talks about "competitors" trying to take advantage of knowledge you've gained, for their own commercial gain. This is of course to be expected, but we don't have to "help" them.

Mark.

"Seems that people can't be proud of the results for their car, setup to suit their own needs and wants, without someone saying it's crap, or that some UK with a VF24 turbo did nearly aswell, or that they spent too much money, or not enough money."

Is this a dig at me?

I've publicly and privately applauded both Bob an Andy for their amazing achievements and have in no way tried to play down their results by mentioning what the UK MY00 got. I was as amazed as anyone at what this lightly tuned MY00 registered. On a VF24 it didn't seem credible, but as David Wallis says, there it is in black and white.

I don't really understand all this nastiness either. It's not in my nature.

Cheers

Rich

Rich, no i dont think it is!

To Everyone

I believe that this thread has run its course, and as such am locking it.

Guys, i am really dissapointed by the bickering that seems to be going on on here at the moment, especially as it is predominantly coming from respected people.

If you dont change your stance, then i am sorry, but i for one will not respect you for your knowledge, which is very sad really. I am sure others will feel the same too.

Could we all just chill out, and continue to help others on this BBS, instead of hindering them.

Thank you

Steven

I agree Trout.

Last year it was fun. People got excited about not only their own cars, but other peoples, and getting something from nothing (Like you Andy!).

Seems that people can't be proud of the results for their car, setup to suit their own needs and wants, without someone saying it's crap, or that some UK with a VF24 turbo did nearly aswell, or that they spent too much money, or not enough money.

Actually going to Well Lane was kinda fun, there is a buzz to see some of the cars on the rollers after waiting for weeks to see the outcome of XYZ mod.

I just want to chip away at doing what I've got on the go, and frankly, with the exception of a few people with a like mind, I couldn't give a toss what other people think.

Thankyou and good night!

Paul
