Claudius,
I've been in the Forum but couldn't find the post you were talking about.
How long is the French warranty then? The UK one is 3 years and for about a year now, the Fuji warranty has been 2 years and I believe it has just changed again to 3 years.
It sounds unlikely that many cars that are "going" to fail will do so outside of the warranty period? (except perhaps a few extremely low mileage cars or timid drivers)
Pat, any news for us?
Ta,
Matt

Matt, many cars wont fail during the warranty, which is 1 year I believe because they arent daily drivers. Another thing to keep in mind id that many will not be replaced under warranty by Subaru France because they have "modified" the car. I have read of people not getting an engine replaced because they had changed the back box...
As for you not finding the post I mentioned, I will try and dig it out for you. I think it was in "Considerazioni PPP" but I'm not sure.

OK. On page 1 of "consigli per la nuova arrivata", the user with the login name Micio states:
"Ti consiglio di aspettare e vedere se la macchina è a posto dopo un bel po' di km...
...se non facevo anche io così non mi avrebbero cambiato il motore a 30.000 km, in garanzia, per un difetto di fabbrica...
...e avrei dovuto sborsare non so quanto..."
He's talking to an STI owner and says: "I recommend you wait and see what happens after a decent mileage (the STI guy is worried about his engine blowing). If I hadnt waited, they wouldnt have changed my engine at 30,000 km, under warranty, because of a manufacturing defect. And that would have cost me I dont know how much..."
Later on in that thread, the tuner (login name Mauro) states:
"Purtroppo ragà e proprio cosi con le centraline originali subaru, ne ho visti pure io di pistoni sciolti in autostrada a 180 km/h
Ma la cosa che mi fà più rabbia e che gli ispettori subaru quando vedono questi pistoni non si pongono il "perchè è successo?"
Translation: "it's always like that with Subaru ECUs, I have seen so many blown pistons of people going 180 km/h on the motorway. WBut what really p*sses me off is that the tech personnell at Subaru, when they get to see these pistons, dont seem to wonder "why that happened".

Perhaps it's simply more likely in Europe that someone canes it up past 6k in 6th gear and holds it there for a while?
We're due to test one on the autobahn to see what really happens, just waiting for a WB bung to go in.
I should add - I can't 'see' the original maps actually inside a Euro STi....but a stock UK map runs a Euro car with no problems, and the same performance.

Well, my friends, I see that Claudius is always at the place he would'nt be... As on other Forums, he "gently" comes to see is there is some poor guy to convinct that his poor Subaru will blow is the next minutes, poor guy, your choice was not the good one and i will "proove it" for you...
Claudius has a lot of problems around the forums he visits, he has an answer to all you discuss about his thought. When the things are going harder, he pretends to be quieter... as always, to be back harder in the best delay.
I don't understand why he's still here on the ScoobyNet as he wants to be the proud Emperor of the Evo World.
After reading those lines he wrotes on the LancerRegister about us, the ScoobyNetters, you will understand the way he thinks...
This was his comment after a little battle here about the 0-60 of the Evo VIII (thread 139543):
"The scoobynetters have very strange habits and seem to be bored out of their minds, with their heads up their asses; as soon as you try to explain something interesting, you get a bunch of losers telling you it's different, and then some braindead moderating muppet moves your post to the "Muppet Forum" (I thought that was all of sc******et? ). In there? Forget it! You havent seen so much **** in your life! and I MEAN that!
Taking a look at it gives you a better understanding of sc******t's irrelevance to human kind and performance cars..."
Don't know if you have read those lines, but the reality is here and this sort of guy have nothing to do here.
P.S. Claudius, apart to tell us the way the STIs will blow, we could open discussion about the way your "splendid Evo" has blown. Yes, I have also my ears at the right place sometimes.
After that it could be the time to return to the LancerRegister where, "unfortunately" you have some good ennemies.
Sorry, but I think very sincerely that it was the time to tell the truth and we can't admit a so unfair attitude not only here, but all over the Subaru World he visits and comments.
Please, excuse-me if I some english mistakes occurs.
Pour Claudius (he's a frenchie): je ne prendrai pas la peine de te répondre, la messe est dite et tu vois qu'un jour ou l'autre on peut prendre le boomerang en pleine poire. A toi d'assumer tes dires maintenant.

Please note though - it's quite possible that STi-Frenchie
still has a serious problem. A few months back I saw one STi7 that was pulling huge timing for no apparent reason above 5k, problem is it still boosted OK (but I could feel power was down) and the owner wasn't concerned (I recommended a dealer look at it straight away...).
Problem disappeared shortly afterwards and I never heard from the owner again - but I did hear recently that the guy sold it...and engine blew on new owner! I'm trying to confirm this, but have had no luck so far....
If the problem is repeatable, get it to a dealer ASAP and show them!

i am locking this thread until i have time to weed out the nonsense tonight.
Claudius, you taking this thread completely of topic at the first oportunity is out of order. Answer the guys question by all means, but dont jump in with your mantra of STi7's blow up.
I'll be back later.
