and i'm getting happier with mine all the time....why all the stuff about warranties and cloak and dagger stuff?...all i have done is said that the upgrade available was great and the service that i have received from ian has been nothing short of excellent...you get knockers in all walks of life, pity they havn't got something better to do! anybody who wanted to know what i had done dropped me a mail and i told them. i think that i would rather had stuff done at enthusiastic franchised dealers than other places which could be mentioned.

Andy,

Nobody is knocking anybody and now Ian has confirmed that it is Ecutek that is being used, half of the main questions have been answered.

Presumably, as it's a "stealth" mod, the warranty situation is not a problem Ian?

I have to agree with andy - the performance gets better as the ECU learns. Certainly does the job, and I've yet to spot any downside.

Colin.

Is this something I could have done to my already PPP'ed MY02 (the software side rather than exhaust?). And would it impact warranty at my local dealer (sadly not Stan Palmers)?

Lucky Strike

If you have already added a downpipe and up pipe (power from 240-245bhp up to approx 270-280bhp) then your next step would be to de-solder the PPP piggy back chip and have an Ecutek installer re-map the car.

Because the piggy back chip fools the ecu into seeing less boost than is really being produced, you cannot re-map the car with this still fitted.

I would expect that you could sell the piggy back for £300-£400 on here.

Cool

Thanks Pete - I suppose all that's holding me back on the up and down de-cat is emissions/warranty and potential problems with the engine resulting from no cats. If I go for it then I feel I've wasted something going with PPP in the first place!

Although its a Nov 02 car so MOT won't be an issue for a while but its an opt-out of the company car scheme job so I need it to be as reliable as possible

Lucky Strike

We did a lot of testing before signing this off. In fact if it hadn't been for a very persistent friend, I would probably not have even tried it, due to the way the PPP works. Any way we did and it is completely safe. We've now changed the up and down pipe on a LOT of PPP cars and all are running perfectly well.

As for removing the piggy back, we have done a few this month and all of these owners have managed to sell their piggy backs for reasonable money.

Elder

Give me a call and I will try to resolve any issues you have.
The conversion in question on this thread does not use a superchip, it uses new software which is downloaded through the diagnostic port.

Sorry to here you are not happy, but we will resolve any issues you have.

Ian
