nobody ever bought a rolex for accuracy and who of you has been in space? or below 100m under the sea? all these buzz lightyear gadgets are useless... unless you're buzz lightyear!

buy what you want coz you like it and are comfortable with it.

Me and the missus both wear rolexes (and wouldn't wear anything else). they're nice to look at and when you're wearing holey jeans frayed underpants and a paint stained t shirt, you still feel a bit special.

classy peeps wear patek phillipe

Sunil!

You barsteward! I am jealous! Lots of wrist apparel fans on the board which is nice to know. Good stuff!
I am seriously tempted to wait until I am abroad to get the Breitling, BUT, no guarantee that they will have the model I want, plus know credit facility! (I want to spread out the ouch factor on the wallet!).

Oh well, the local Breitling dealer has let me know that they have the model I want in now so i will see it on Saturday!

Until then my friends! Perhaps we should start the Scoobynet Watch fan club and have a special sticker! What do you think!?

Cheers,

Jon

Cool

Chris L Yeah, they are kind of hard to come by. Mines at least 15 years old and still looks like new - everytime I go near a watch retailer they offer to buy it

Fosters -LOL- Couldn't agree more. Yup, Better half has one too, dunno what it is about them

Diablo - I'm surprised they don't try and bite your arm off every time you go into a jewellers

Did you see that article in Car magazine a few months ago about watches? - The Cosmograph is apparantly the watch of choice in F1 circles - there are ridiculous waiting lists of 7 or 8 years to get them!!

Chris, yeah, they tried that too!

Its funny, you can get gold or bi-metal ones without too much delay, but s/s is a nightmare

I know that Rubens has got one (Jackie Stewart gave it to him when he drove for Stewart GP). Ross Brawn has one too, but not sure about anyone else.

LOL, I've got the watch, all I need is the talent

If you want to make sure that the dealership abroad has the watch in stock just arrange it before your trip. You can get lists of official dealers from the Breitling website and then you can find the nearest to where you're going, ring them, make sure they've got the watch (or will have it), fix a duty-free price with them, get a 12 month loan in the UK from Lombard Direct or someone like that, and then go over with the cash and get the watch.

I made sure that the Breitling dealership in Singapore had my watch in stock and reserved for me, before my brother in law visited Singapore - so I knew exactly which shop to send him to. He went there, checked the watch with the catalogue I'd given him, paid the money and brought the watch back to me. Saved myself over 50% of the UK cost.

In my view, for that sort of cash its worth a few phonecalls/emails abroad.

Edited due to lack of spelling abilities...

Mossman,
Got a Tag F1, had it for 5 years and it's great.

It's probably not you're cup of tea though as it does look very cheap as its not shiny, but black plastic strap, and green colored numerals.

I like it though.

I have to agree. At the end of the day all that matters is that you like your watch.

Well lads, it is now sitting resplendent (sp!?) on my wrist, a Breitling Superocean Professional with a black face and as we all seem to have agreed,

I LIKE IT!!!!!!

Apparently the Breitlings do have the sapphire glass now, not mineral and the dealer who also stock Rolexes said it is about 5 years wait for the s/s Cosmograph at present! They get one a year on average! Gugger me!!!

Anyway, I'm very pleased and made sure it was insured before I stepped out half an hour ago into Hull city centre! It's liek the Bronx during the day!

Cheers all!

Hi Fosters,

I'm afraid I don't know how to post a pic, but if you go to the Breitling website, they have a nice pic of the one in question!

Cheers,

Jon

Fosters

There are some URLs for a variety of watch companies on page 1 of this thread. Nothing like a little computerised window shopping - although it is so much better when you try them on in person.

uhmmm, breitlings aren't my cup of tea if that's a fair example.

Each to his own, eh?

I've got a black faced explorer II in SS, my second actually - the first had a white face! There isn't another watch I'd wear - if this broke, I'd get the same one again.

The missus's one has all the diamonds n **** on it - bit girly though.

Gotta be a Breitling Navitimer. Mmmmmmmmm.
Tags look too much like the fakes you see everywhere, my dad's got one and it just looks cheap.
Think I'll hang onto my 10 year old 120 squid Accurist. Amazingly accurate. Funnily enough.

Neil.

Fosters

Some Breitlings are pretty bulky. There are others that are much smaller.
