Yawn. I have never seen a topic where so much horse **** has been uttered. Theyve done what they intended as everyone and their dog wants to know who the stig is. I personally can wait until they unveil him if they ever do. Everyone was expecting it at the end of the last series but it didnt happen. Who knows when it will.

Agree P1F.
Everyone seems to know someone who is in the know but it's all hush hush. If as many people know as some would have you believe then I think it would have sneaked out by now somehow through some party or other... It would now be common knowledge and it most certainly is not!

He was leaving when I arrived to see the filming (400+ BHP show) and he kept his helmet on right out of the circuit, so must be someone pretty recogniseable.

I was under the impression that Stig was a Rutle (as in Dirk, Stig, Nasty and Kevin). Now I know. Muppets here we come.

Well just proves to me what an abosulte farce the track times are ,
ok there was some quick cars there , but my point is no 2 drivers think or drive the same , and for all we know 1 stig could have been driving a certain car he tested before or even own such car for all we know
edited to say : Thats provided its true there is more than 1 stig

i thought it could have been shergar? He'd be pretty recognisable!
Or Elvis, if they could drag him away from the chippy he runs in gretna green.

You can't take driver out of the equation. At the most basic level, one driver will be able to take certain types of car closer to their limit.
So if you keep the same driver, you are unlikely to be able to gauge anything reliable about the true ultimate performance of the car.
Perhaps (again simplifying) one of the STIGs is a FWD specialist, one is a RWD, one is AWD, etc.
This way, placing the right car in the right hands you are arguably more likely to get consistent results.
As has been mentioned before, EVERYTHING can affect the time around the track, from temperatures, to humidity, to seat position, etc. So you really shouldn't get hung up on all this. It is just entertainment, but has an element of competition which, while subject to some interpretation, is a valid indication nonetheless.
Regarding who is/are the stig(s). It is a cleverly, well kept secret, and the speculation here proves that.
