What the **** is Heskey doing playing for England????? Are we really THAT desperate for players????

I can only put forward Barry as an option for England, but out of the rest of the Villa team (not including Vassell) then I can't think of anyone else.

So how many more times does he hav eto do it before people stop and think?

Make an example out of him, this sort of thing should not be tolerated from ANY player.

Well maybe GH should have a word with him like thats what managers do, while he's at it he can have a word with the rest of the team about lack of commitment...

Some things I could never work out - saw Anelka in his penultimate game against Blackburn at home (we won 4-3, cracking game, nerves shot to pieces, Gunners won at the Toilet same night) and most of us around that area of the pitch were amazed at his talent and ball control. The guy was amazing.

Same for Litmanen, if ever there was a system for a player it was for him playing away in a 4-4-1-1 formation.

Yet we keep Heskey for Fowler, keep Smicer for Litmanen, get Diouf for Anelka. Arghhhhh......

"Give the guy a break ok"

This is a football thread, somehow I dont think the day will never come when you see football fans giving any one a break, let alone a high profile player/manager going through a rough patch its all part of the religion

Question

Friend of mine said he had heard that GH will be moved upstairs for Kevin Keegan to be new manager. I like this idea - just as long as he played a defence. Sure I think his style of football would bring the buzz back at Anfield.

Steven Gerrard has been charged with misconduct by the Football Association following his tackle on Everton's Gary Naysmith in the Merseyside derby.

Liverpool have 14 days to appeal against the charge and manager Gerard Houllier has hinted the club will be looking for a personal hearing.

Not being funny, but WTF is he appealing for???? I can imagine the excuses now.

I presume that there is going to be a match ban? When will it be effective? (fingers crossed that he is banned for the Villa match at Anfield......)

Redkop,

Of course the tackle was deliberate! Anybody who's played football will be able to tell you that. When you jump in that way your whole intention is to go through the man..............taking the ball as well would be seen as a bonus! I'm sure Michelle will confirm this as a referee she will see these types of tackle occasional and I would guess each time it results in a card

From a referee's point of view, as STI says, if I see that kind of tackle on the pitch, then the player responsible will rarely stay on the field of play.

I don't know why everyone is going ott on this, to me its all about stats. If say there is a 1000 tackles in a premiership weekend of football, you are no doubt going to get a percentage of bad ones. SG tackle was one of those bad ones, now he has been punished (quite fairly imo), so thats that, end of debate. Maybe LFC are appealing to offset when the ban will start from - don't forget we play the **** soon, in which case I don't see a lot wrong with that thinking.

STI - thats worrying, you're agreeing with me now, I think its called hypnosis....anyway, I was honest enough to say a couple of weeks ago that SG would get his punishment, well now its happened.

Shame he didn't get the ban when he was playing bad.

To be fair he is playing rather well again. Not back to his best but getting there. He could do with scoring a few more goals

They all could do with scoring a few more, Danny boy is the only one who is likely to achieve the 10-15 goal target.

Problem is you see GH keeps leaving out Riise - he can and has scored goals. For some reason he's put on bench after playing one.

STi wanna Subaru.......I answered Chelles question as with what was quoted on the official LFC site. Doesn't mean that it was my own personal reason I gave!!!

Quote from site

Gerrard charged by FA

Steven Gerrard has been charged with misconduct by the Football Association following his tackle on Everton's Gary Naysmith in the Merseyside derby.

Liverpool have 14 days to appeal against the charge and manager Gerard Houllier has hinted the club will be looking for a personal hearing.

Houllier said: "We have receieved notification from the FA but we have not made a final decision on our response.

"I can say that our player had no intention at all of hurting anybody. After the incident the Everton player continued playing and the referee took no further action.

"We will consider asking for a personal hearing to put forward our case."

Just thought I'd bring this thread back from the dead.

I cannot believe Gerrard AGAIN got away with a two footed lunge at Newcastle today, he really is the dirtiest **stard in football. I watched the Villa game earlier this season and he did the same thing again in that match. Sooner retires the better as I don't think it is fair that he is/will be going around retiring players through injury.

Mark my words, someone will come a croper because of that arseole.
